By o2x4 I purchased two of these harnesses with matching collars brown and pink less than a month ago because of the sales persons recommendation at pet supply's plus. I asked for a GOOD harness. Other than my dogs looking good in their walking gear, I have not liked these harnesses at all since. They instantly attract mud and dirt that soaks right into the material. I now only use these collar and harness sets when I walk the dogs and immediately take them off upon return home. If not they look like garbage. I constantly have to stop both of my dogs on walks and tighten their harnesses. This becomes very frustrating especially when you have 2 dogs on leashes and a bag of poo in hand...and I have big dogs. Now to further prove the poor quality of this new earth harness my 1 year old 90lb chocolate lab chomped through the harness in the time it took me to clip his together turn and put my Rott/Germ Shepard's feet into her harness. Like 10 seconds! I so much as turned my back! & chomp chomp! JUNK These dogs battle all day long in the other set of play collars I purchased them. Made from whatever this traditional material is, nylon, petroleum based, seatbelt kinda collar seems to work out way better than soy

Would be lovely, if it fit.Dec 06, 2010

"alceria"
I purchased one of these at a local pet store. What appealed to me most is something that won't translate well on the web - the material used to make this harness is very soft and pliable, unlike stiff nylon. It feels really nice. It appeared that it would be more comfy for my dog to wear. She currently gets sores under her armpits after wearing a nylon harness. I thought maybe a softer material would be less abrasive and irritating.
I got the coordinating leash and was really excited to try this out, but the large ended up not fitting my dog, who is a very trim Labrador Retriever. She's not big for a Lab, and there are definitely a lot of dogs bigger than her, so I'm really surprised there isn't a size larger than this available. Her old harness is a large and is adjusted down to fit her. This one was tight even fully extended.
Additionally, the style of this harness is a bit different, it requires your dog to step through both "legs" of it. My old harness just required the dog to step one leg through, and strap that goes under the dog was then fed through the loop on the back of the dog. This style was much easier for my dog to get into compared to the soy harness. Not a huge deal, especially if the new one had fit, but alas it did not. Another thing worth noting is that this harness has two D rings that you are supposed to snap your leash into. Depending on the size of your leash, you may have trouble fitting both D rings on to your leash hardware, so I thought I'd mention it.
I suggest buying this in a store where you can size it on your pet.
Like the other reviewer, I also tried to track down the manufacturer to see if there were any larger sizes, but I can't find any web presence at all, which is a bummer.
Amazon doesn't display the sizes in the titles for this product. It really is quite silly to describe the harness in terms of the width of the fabric when that gives no information about the sizing at all.
Horrible!Jan 08, 2012
By Emily I purchased this harness at a local pet store and it came highly recommended. They fit it on my dog in the store and properly tightened it. I was concerned then about my dog being able to slip out of it. They told me that I would have plenty of time to get to her if I felt her pulling to get out. I took my dog for a walk the next day and she easily backed out of it before I could get to her and ran off toward the busy road almost getting hit by a car. It took her no more than 2-3 seconds to get out of it. I will NEVER use this again because it is unsafe and my dog's lives are put in jeopardy! I highly recommend that NO ONE buy this product.
sizing it toughJan 05, 2012
By m2cutie I have a beagle hound mix, she's 42 lbs. this harness is too big on her, but the harness is too small on my 62 lb. black lab. Thus this harness is really only useful if you have a 45-55 lb dog. This is a pretty small window for this harness to fit. Especially since there are only 3 sizes (9small, medium, large) My hound is rather compact, she's tall, and he chest is broad, but she doesn't have much of a belly. Making this harness difficult to fit around her body, even though the part around her neck is fine.
Another comment mentioned the harness beging more difficult to use because the dog has to step into it. my dog has always had to step into the harness. If this is your first harness your dog will learn and it will be normal, but I agree, if you've use one of the easy on harnesses, that your dog doesn't have to step into, they will be confused and you'll be lifting your dog up to get the harness in.
Overall it's not a bad harness, I like the thick comfy straps, but the sizing is diffcult. If it doesn't fit it's not practical so make sure you try this on in the store first!
Why the odd sizing?Jul 30, 2010
By France I looked at these harnesses today at a store. They are soft with no scratchy stitching and that is a huge plus. But I was so frustrated as I have a small-medium dog who weighs 25 pounds and none of the 3 sizes of harness fit him. He's a very common sized dog and I don't understand why companies can't make sure they have a full size range of products. Is it that hard? The small and medium harnesses are great, simple and well constructed. But the medium isn't that big or substantial and the large is HUGE. I kept hoping there was another size that simply wasn't being stocked but unfortunately, there isn't. And I can't find a company website to write to. So I decided to communicate via this review. If you have a "large-small" or "small medium" size dog, be very careful when selecting a size. I can say immediately that the large seems constructed for a rottweiller and the medium for a jack russell size. BUT if you have a definitely small or large dog, this does seem like a great harness.
