I love my mini bow and so does my bettaNov 17, 2009

After the most recent demise of my last Betta- Hot Temper, who bless his heart, lived 2 years in a 1 gallon fish bowl, I found myself in a fish store (not so soon after, I did mourn the little guy). Wandering about I could not deny my instant love for a feisty beautiful little guy the size of a small drapery tassel, I brought him home (instant gratification and instant love is my middle name)...and proceeded to give him 'Hot Temper's' life all over again (yes...in a bowl), but this time I thought he might benefit from living at work with me (I work all the time)...fast forward to cute little fish, living on my desk, and between calls me looking up just what might make him happy (er)...I come to a sudden realization that I sucked as a fish mom(formerly) and needed to give the little guy what he truly deserved, more oxygen, more "toys", more room and heat. I bought this little aquarium wonder (w/a black top),bye bye bowl, and wow have I got one happy fish! This tank is an easy set up,the filter (that worried me sick) is great, it will not swallow or eat your Betta (as far as I can tell so far...thank goodness!),he is not struggling through any major currents and as far as I can tell, he is a happy camper (or show off). I purchased a small heater to keep his temp at what is most conducive to his normal habitat, my Betta is making bubbles nests, and showing off like a full finned champ. I always thought I had a happy Betta, until now, this fish is unbelievably active and showy. I know it's a fish, but he sure reminds me of a puppy with fins! I love this little tank, perfect on a desk top, easy to set up, perfect for a Betta (just buy a heater, plants, gravel and hiding nook and you're set!) Love this!!

The first tank pet stores should suggest for BettasMar 25, 2011

I will never buy a glass bowl for a any kind of fish ever again... I never realized what a difference it makes to give your Betta a bigger tank. I think most people are like me, they don't understand that a 1 gallon bowl without a filter, heater, light or plants isn't really much of a home :( I had a Betta many years ago, also got one about a year ago that just passed away and i'm on my third one now... when my boyfriend went to clean the glass bowl my last Betta lived in, I think it was fate when the bowl base broke and I ended up with this tank. I see such a huge difference with my new Betta that I feel so bad for the other two Bettas that I didn't give a very good life.
This tank should be the minimum size required for a Betta... I wish I could tell others buying one of these little guys that they really do need more than a very basic setup and it doesn't cost too much more than dirt cheap :)

Good but filter too strong for bettasJun 27, 2010
By GenXmom I like this aquarium setup; however, the filter current is too strong for young bettas and quite possibly for fully grown ones. My betta is blown by the current, so this is just to tell you that many bettas prefer no current at all. I would recommend a different type of filtration for this tank.

Excellent for Bettas, but Has Some DrawbacksMar 13, 2012
By Pig Fan The mini bow is a wonderful little tank great for betta keepers with limited space. THis size tank is actually the minimum for bettas. Beside a betta and maybe a snail, you can't much else in here. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros- Absolutely perfect for bettas! I just upgraded my betta's 1 gallon tanks to these beautiful tanks. You can fit at least three plants inside and a nice cave or something. The filter is changeable and you can fit a heater. It's big enough for plants on the bottom and clear swimming space at the top. The bow-front is great and they come in nice colors. Really good tanks in general
Cons- You can only fit betta! DON'T try and squeeze in a goldfish or some danios. ONLY BETTAS!!! Also, the filter is a piece of garbage. If you do get this tank, toss the filter and replace it with an Azoo Palm Filter. They work wonders and are very silent. It doesn't come with a heater, but you can purchase one. That's all I can think of, though.
So those are the pros and cons. In conclusion, they're wonderful tanks but only for bettas. My two bettas, Martin and Margaret, have been extremely pleased with the move and are loving their new quarters. It's like moving from a 2 foot by 2 foot room to a penthouse! Quite a relief.
If your betta is stuck in one of those cruel little bowls, then this is the perfect tank for you.

Casual Use OnlyMar 14, 2011
By Kelsey Foster I bought this little tank for my desk at work, since it was the perfect size for a pico saltwater reef. For the most part, I'm liking it.
The light bulb that came with it was absolutely worthless, but that's common with MOST things that come with bulbs, so no harm there. I replaced it with a 9w Corallife 50/50 mini compact fluorescent. That bulb alone would be more than enough to keep many types of corals in a tank this small...except for one design flaw that I couldn't see until I got the product out of the box.
The light bulb screws in on the right and points to the left, so the bulb is more on the left side of the tank than the right. This wouldn't be a problem, except that the built-in filter is ALSO on the left side of the tank. The filter hooks onto the side of the frame, so it will ONLY go in this one spot, and consequently, it blocks more than 50% of the light!
While this product has its uses, I should have known better than to try to buy a cheap product for serious--rather than casual--use. I can adapt this one to work, but I should have saved myself the trouble and gotten a more professional item to start with.
