It can efficiently drive under-gravel filters, circulate and aerate aquarium water, and attach to filtration accessories such as the AquaClear Quick Filter to support crystal clear water conditions. The Powerhead 110 can be used to raise oxygen levels, which is important when there are increases in water temperature or fish population, as well as during the treatment of diseases. It can also be connected to drive protein skimmers, which are essential devices for most marine aquariums. Freshwater aquariums also benefit from additional currents in many applications. In addition to being the ultimate submersible pump in its category, the Powerhead also includes the following design, safety and utility innovations: a compact, energy-efficient, and completely submersible motor unit that is insulated in epoxy resin to protect against harsh fresh and salt water environments; adjustable flow control; convenient suction cups for easy installation; and an output hose adapter that allows easy attachments to protein skimmers, spray bars, and other accessories. It is perfectly suited to deliver outstanding circulation and aeration in large marine fish, marine reef, and big freshwater aquariums containing larger species. | | | Features: | |

Good flow, but it would kill you fishSep 14, 2010
By Good flow, but it would kill you fish Very true, it will kill your fish. Dont buy this power head, the suction part is poorly designed that will suck your fish. Yesterday I found two of my fishes death in the suction cone. Dont get this power head unless you are using a under gravel filter.

Works great except it kills your fish.May 12, 2007
By B. Lindsay These are durable powerheads that certanly cycle water quite efficiently. They are not noisy, and I only have one complaint (albeit a major one). If you are using live rock as an alternative to an undergravel filter you will probably have fish die because of this powerhead. The cone on the power head provides alot of suction and is the perfect size for a curious fish to fit into. My blemmy was apparently interested in the suction and stuck his head in; once their head is in the cone they have virtually no chance of swimming backwards fast enough to survive. The result is that the rest of their body will be slowly sucked in and compacted inside the cone. I'm sure you are thinking "why don't you just remove the cone", I did. I thought this would alleviate any problems with dead livestock; It didn't. The next thing I know is one of my "turbo snails" was stuck to the now flat screen on the bottom of the powerhead. There are NO sponge attachments that fit this powerhead, I have looked everywhere (manufacturers website, local stores, etc.). This problem seems to be addressed on the intake of virtually every other powerhead on the market. I have no idea why this was overlooked in this design. I am now stuck with 2 powerheads that cost around $130 total. I am going to try to rig a sponge to the bottom of the powerhead with some rubberbands as a last resort.
