Fast and Effective - Pros and Cons, and Basic DirectionsNov 13, 2011

One of my Black Moors had a wicked case of the Ick. It had white dots all around the edges of all fins and in some places the edge of the fin had began to split and die. It generally acted sluggish and you could tell it was unhappy.
Cons: - The green food coloring type additive in the medicine will stain whatever it touches. It is my assumption coloring is added to the medicine so you can see how much you are putting in, but it is possible it is the natural color. Either way it stains your fingers, and certain things in the tank. My air hose leading to the air diffusers are what are the most obviously stained. But it is not severe, and nothing in the tank is so stained that I will even worry about taking it out. It also stained the silicone around the edges where the corners are sealed. If you have an expensive tank set up with high end ornaments, you might want to take to take the time to empty the tank or seperate the fish into a smaller container. The directions say to add this to a "bare tank", I did not take the time to empty the tank. The rocks and ornaments I have are fine afterward, just the above mentioned green tint in a few places.
- Don't let the dark green coloring deter you from adding the proper amount of medicine to the tank. As you start dropping it in, it appears quite menacing, to the point that you are afraid it will harm your fish. BUT, it wasn't until I got past that fear and dropped 40 drops in a 40 gallon tank that my fish began to show signs of getting better.
Pros:
- The effects were fast. Within hours of adding it I noticed the larger white bumps emmitting air bubbles. I could actually see the parasite being killed, and air emmitting from multiple spots on the fish's infection. Within 2 hours of seeing that the fish's disposition had improved dramatically.
- The medicine reversed the disease in my one fish tht was infected and I saw no other infections among other fish.
Directions:
- Remove carbon filter, add one drop per gallon daily until cured for all fish except Tetra. For Tetras add one drop per 2 gallons. Replace carbon filter 24 hours after final use. Do not use on invertebratess, live rock, baby whales, or elephant nose.
