Doesn't last one monthMay 29, 2011
By FoolMeOnce I bought this tank two months ago. After one month of use, the light on the hood started smoking and then died. We have tried replacing the light, but the hood started smoking right away. We had to remove the light and let fish live without the light. Now we will probably have to replace the entire tank. Such a waste of money with this product...
Looks good, but didn't lastApr 04, 2012
By brijyp Bought this to replace a 3 year-old BiOrb for 2 guppies. It looks great, but the light fixture corroded out after a couple of months then it became really difficult to maintain water quality and cleanliness with weekly 25% water changes. The reviews suggested getting a stronger filter, and cutting the plastic hood to accommodate the other brand filter. Aqueon would not replace the hood, or light fixture, and the bow-front style/size isn't a standard available from other manufacturers. So, instead of replacing parts and/or filter, I needed to completely re-purchase this whole set-up! No thanks, even though I like the aquarium itself. Replaced this mini-bow after 6 months with a Fluval Edge 6 gallon.

I have 2 of these tanks a 5gal and 2gal. I have had these tanks for YEARS. They have not been running for the 5 years I have had them but I have used them for betta fish, plants, breeding shrimp, raising Fry, and hospital tank. It's been my back up tank. Right now I have it set up for breeding Bee shrimp. I have since switched the filter and added a heater. I love the light hood never had a problem. I use a 13watt CF light and it works great and the plants love it.
So my main problem with this tank is quality. It's not a quality acrylic tank. The bow front distorts viewing. It's hard to clean off alge because you don't want to scratch the plastic. Also the small bow shape makes it a bit tricky to clean with a magnet cleaner. I put an old sock on my hand and used that to clean it. I like the size of this tank but I am looking for another tank it's time to replace it.
Nice for the price don't expect much it scratches real easy. Great little starter tank for betta fish or kids room I have been keeping fish for 13 years I have 5 tanks up and running ranging in 100gal - 5gal.
