Stopped barking immediatelyNov 05, 2010
By Katie Smith We have two boxers that are ~65 lbs. We found out that they were barking at a squirrel that liked to sunbathe on our fence near their kennel during the day and were driving the neighbors crazy. We really didn't want to use shock collars, so we made our first attempt at purchasing our first spray collars. They were not the PetSafe brand. They worked as expected the first time the dogs barked, but then they tried to run away from the spray and every time their feet hit the ground, they got sprayed again. We continued to have problems with the collars triggering without barking, so we returned them the next day. After doing more research we decided to spend the extra money and get the PetSafe Deluxe Spay Bark Collars. We tested them out and had no problems with them going off without the dogs actually barking. Both dogs took to them quite well and are not showing any skin reactions to the lemon spray. Our neighbors have also called to tell us that the dogs are not barking at all anymore. These things are amazing. I highly recommend them.

Manufacturing flawJul 10, 2009
By B. Andreasen Arrived within time range and in new condition. It must have had a manufacturing flaw because refilling the collar sprayed the liquid all over. After a few weeks of e-mails I was given a refund.

Didn't work for me.Feb 05, 2009

This didn't work for me at all. At first I thought maybe my dog had too much hair, so I waited until after he was groomed and clipped, but it made no difference! I tried making it tighter to the point where it was obviously uncomfortable for him, then backed-off one hole in the strap, still no-go. I also notice that if he shakes at all (which he often does after we put a collar on him), the little device ends up on one side or the other of his neck, not at the bottom where it should be. I wish there were some way to do a test-spray. The indicator lights are all as they should be and he is definitely barking, but the device just doesn't do anything. It might work for you, but this one's headed for the trash!

I didn't think it was possible!Sep 08, 2011
By Elizabeth Camacho We adopted Snickers, a 2 year old mix breed, in 2005. In fairness, his cage tag did say, "VERY VOCAL", in large magic marker. But he really wasn't noisy. Not until a year ago. He eyesight is going, and he is compensating with volume. I train dogs and prefer positive methods for any behavioral modification. But it was getting worse, no training was getting through.
So I ordered the collar, it arrived very quickly. I took off his other collar and just let him wear this one for a couple of days. Yesterday I turned it on when I left home. His habit is to bark at me from the time he hears my car return, until he gets some attention (Catch 22 Dummy!). I came home a couple hours later to the usual 3 wiggle butts. But no barking. It took me a few minutes to realize I was able to immediately get down on the floor and greet all 3 dogs. Wha? Did that just happen? I looked at Snickers sitting at my feet, wagging his stump tail, and gave him another snuggle.
He didn't empty the unit, it apparently only took a spray or two to get the point. He can still bark all he likes outside, I put his other collar on. I don't even mind if he barks to alert if dangerous squirrels approach. But the frantic, pushy, excessively loud bark at me - NOT COOL.
The advertisement said it was the smallest spray collar. I've seen others, they're huge. This is bigger than his invisible fence receiver, but not huge.
Negatives: None as far as function. BUT...There was no information on sizing. There is a small, medium and large collar, I bought the large. It would have almost gone around his neck twice! Because of the way it fits and has to be cut to size, once it's fit to this dog, the collar is cut short enough so it will never fit on a dog much larger. Also the 2 buckle fit system is heavy on one side, the spray unit and sensor barely stay in place. If he shakes, it moves out of position. I'm a bit surprised he triggered it, but I can't argue with results.
Don't go for the package deal with 6V batteries, they aren't the right ones! I can get replacement camera battery at the hardware or pharmacy.

Quieted the dog...but not completely consistent.Feb 26, 2009
By A. Bonner I gave this a 4 star because it has quieted down the dog. However, I think it could have been 100% effective if it would consistently spray when the dog continues to bark. It sprays initially --on first bark--but then seems to need a minute to build the next charge. A dog can bark quite a bit during that moment! But, again--a positive result.
