5Harness for Airport TravelJan 04, 2007
By Janet King
I recently travelled on United Airlines from San Francisco to Denver, with my large male two year old cat & experienced going through security protocol of having to remove him from his Sherpa pet carrier. Fortunately an experienced travellar had warned me of the necessity of removing a frightened animal in a busy, overwhelming sight, and he advised me to purchase a harness and a lead, rather than a "break-away" collar for my pet. It was a fortuitous warning, because my feisty cat can extricate himself from every collar I have ever purchased for him in usually less than two minutes!! He is not abhorring of the harness, and in fact seems quite comfortable when wearing it. The airline personnel shared horror stories of frightened cats freeing themselves from break-away cat collars and running terrified in the airport terminals, during the mandatory removal from their pet carriers. I highly recommend the harness for cat owners!

5cats like it and dont take offJun 23, 2007
By Terri R. Dunn "Terri"
I have always used harnesses on my cats because they can't pull them off and not as dangerous as a non breakaway collar. The other harnesses my cats walked funny when first put on but with this they acted like they didn't even know it was on. I have one cat that scratched at all his other collars till they looked like lion manes all shredded up but his one he hasn't touched.

5Nice harness, easy to get on catOct 25, 2008
By M. Mills "inquisitive designer"
This is a great harness and is so easy to put on your cat -- just slip the smaller loop (the one without the buckle) over your cat's head, and then clasp the other loop behind their front legs/around their tummy. The flat plastic connector (the thing in the middle that looks like a black Pringle chip) sits on top of their shoulderblades. Besides being fully adjustable, which is awesome, the best feature of this harness is the swiveling ring -- so your leash never gets tangled or twisted, no matter which way your cat might turn.

Our 6-month-old cat (5.5 lbs) just barely fits into this harness (as in, it's almost too big for her), so it's probably not for smaller cats. She's not sure she likes it yet and rolls around on the ground once in a while to try to get it off. While she's wearing it, I give her treats and we play with her favorite toys in hopes that she'll start associating the harness with happy feelings. I'm confident that she'll acclimate to the harness and we'll be walking her in no time!

5the BEST cat harnessJun 12, 2007
By tigortweet "michele"
I travel a lot and Like to keep my cats on a leash when I take them along. I have tried other figure 8 harnesses as well as the Lupine cat harness, and this is the BEST one out there. My cat is calm and cool when she has this on, she has never struggled with it at all. She actually destroyed a regular lupine collar in a week so the fact that she is so cooperative in this harness is awesome. I would recommend it to anyone!

3I'll have to be different here, my cat hates itMar 11, 2009
By M. Green
It is relatively easy to adjust, allowing for a wiggly cat, and easy to put on if it's adjusted to larger than the minimum size, which is what I was looking for as my cat really struggles with putting on a regular harness. It would get five stars if this was all I had to say, but then people who need to see this review might miss it.

I think the problem is that my cat is too small for it. As I mentioned, she doesn't like having a regular harness put on, but once it's on she seems to forget it's there. With this harness she lies down on the spot as if she's too heavy to move; she doesn't jump around and play like she normally would. She just barely has an 8" neck and 12" chest, so I believe the plastic pad lying well over both her shoulder blades is uncomfortable to her.

I am also unable to adjust it as small as it really needs to be because the smaller sized neck that can go with a 12" chest does not appear to be accounted for.

My cat's small size makes it difficult to put the harness on if it's adjusted as small as it can go because the head loop is then too small to pull over her head either direction, but still too big for her neck. Having to adjust and readjust each time I put it on defeats my purpose in purchasing this model, since she again struggles during the adjustment.

Basically, if your cat just meets the minimum size requirement listed, wait until s/he grows a bit for this harness, perhaps until s/he has a 14" chest, or look at a different harness. I'm still looking for something that will work well for my cat (who is admittedly unusually small).
