These particles usually carry a negative charge as does most filter media. The filter media, therefore, repels these particles, and water can remain continually cloudy. Bio-Magnet imparts a positive electrical charge as a bacterial attractant. This unique formula quickly seeks out and encapsulates the suspended particles, enabling the positively charged particles to be drawn to the filter. Particles caught in the filter are broken down by bacteria, and suspended bacteria are now repositioned onto strata where they are most efficient. The result? Crystal clear water, fast. A better biological filter! | | | Features: | |

A pretty good, safe clarifierJun 13, 2011
By M. Mansfield I've only used this product once - I got a free packet in my bag of CaribSea sand. My previous encounters with water clarifier were BAD: My tanks contain snails, and I had a mass murder of my snails when using other clarifiers.
This time, I removed the four snails I'd be upset to lose, then after putting in the sand, added this clarifier. The other snails (pond snails), which had reacted so negatively to other clarifiers, were just fine, much to my delight (they were supposed to be food for my new fishie inhabitants a couple days later).
My water is still somewhat cloudy, but not nearly as bad as the last time I'd created a tank with a sand substrate. Of course, other clarifiers work faster than this, but they're NOT snail-friendly!
I cannot speak for how this affects pomacea diffusa snails, or ramshorn snails - but I can say that the 70 pond snails I had in the tank survived, when the previous batch all died the last time I added clarifier.
So four stars - it could be a stronger clarifier, but I'd rather it be weaker and still safe for snails! I wish other clarifiers would put directly on the bottle that they're not to be used around our shell-covered friends!
