Puppies USED to speed eatOct 04, 2011
By McKomes We have 2 German Shepherd puppies (brother/sister littermates, now 5 months old). At one point, we actually timed how fast they ate their meals, 1 minute 33 seconds for 2 cups of puppy food floated with canned food and yogurt. Way to fast. We investigated slow feeders. Nothing looked quite right. The ones with the center protrusion wouldn't work because they would work around the outside of the bowl without a problem. The ones with the 4 protrusions on the sides wouldn't work because they would just eat out of the center of the bowl. These bowls have both 4 outer protrusions and a center protrusion. We've had them for almost a month now. The puppies really have to work to eat. We have, once again, timed their eating. Mealtime took 5 minutes 42 seconds. Tripled their eating time. It also seems to amuse/frustrate them since they can't glom their food down. This is an awesome product. The only con I can find is that they're not stainless steel. Make this product in non-slip stainless steel bowl, and I'll be buying it again!!!

Third One's a CharmMay 18, 2011
By Darling Clementine This is the 3rd bowl I bought for my 5 year old cat who inhales her food. She still throws up a bit sometimes but this has definitley slowed her down. I had a difficult time finding a bowl small enough for a cat, but this one is a winner!

Very good quality slow feed bowlJan 20, 2012
By cmfireman I was looking at all the available slow-feed bowls on Amazon and having a hard time deciding which one to get for my Weimaraner, a breed that is prone to bloat and stomach twist caused by eating too fast. This looked to fit the bill and the reviews were good, but I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. I expected another flimsy plastic dog bowl, but this is a heavy, sturdy bowl that should last a very long while. It also has a rubber ring around the bottom edge to help with sliding (although it's not eliminated with an 80 lb. dog). The large size will hold 3 to 3.5 cups of dry food before the food comes over the ridges, but that number would probably be lower with a larger kibble size. The best part is it has slowed her eating time down considerably, I would say as much as an extra two minutes. If you need a slow feed bowl, definitely consider this one.

Good heavy duty dog bowlFeb 23, 2011

This bowl does exactly what it s supposed to do- slow down the quick eater! I like how heavy it is, so it doesn't tip over. Good purchase, would recommend.

Works well...even for my cat!Oct 21, 2010
By renoirjl I bought this bowl for my cat hoping that it would slow down his eating. He usually grazes all day long but about once a day he will eat too much too fast and get sick*. Now he has a terrible time gulping huge mouthfuls of food (perfect!) and he rarely gets sick! My only complaint would be that I cannot give him a full day's worth of food which would be nice since my cat is mainly a grazer. Perhaps a larger bowl with deeper troughs or taller pegs would be a better design for a cat. Since I couldn't find a bowl made specifically for cats, I would say this is great substitute!
Oh, I love the rubber bottom! It is a very thoughtful detail to the design!
*Vet says he is healthy. This behavior was once associated with hairballs but now it is just a bad habit.
