This is the most accurate heater I've ever used. Very consistent temperature and easy to use. It's 22 inches long, but you could slant it if needed.

i have been using jager for about 5 years with no problem. it was time for a update even though old one was still working. the new has been in the tank for about a week with no problems. love it i recomend this to anyone.

Long lasting, tough, and accurateDec 28, 2011

I've had this heater for 8 years. Back then it was called Ebo-Jager but it's almost the identical model with a new name. It reaches the temp on the dial within a degree or two, so it's pretty accurate. I've bumped equipment against it a few times by accident and it hasn't broken yet. A couple times I also accidentally let water suddenly cover the heater after letting the sump go dry (steam was coming from the water touching the heater) but it didn't crack. Another brand heater suddenly cracked from the thermal contraction when I did the same before. In any case, this updated model has a thermo protection feature that should prevent the heat from turning on when it runs dry. This is an excellent heater! Meanwhile my Aquarium Systems brand backup heater (black plastic shell) is not as good.. the temp setting on that one is 5 degrees out of sync. Now I will only buy Eheim Jager heaters for my reef tank.

I've had heaters explode in my 180 gallon reef tank, killing a majority of the livestock. This heater is fantastic and is shatter proof!

After trying to save money in going through some cheap heaters made in China, I decided to get the Eheim/Jager. I tried to be cheap and ended up wasting money trying to save money on junk, from now on, I will buy the best.
