THIS REVIEW IS NOT ABOUT HAMSTERS. Brown's Tropical Carnival for mice is too high in protein, and I read lots of recommendations about the hamster/gerbil food for mice. It's still a bit high in fat, so I always pick out about 3/4 of the sunflower seeds and peanuts, and of course I do have to supplement with fresh foods (mealworms, fruits, veggies, etc.), but it's still the best I've found on the market for mice. The two-pound bag lasts me about a month for four mice; if you want to visualize it, I think one bag would fill a half-gallon milk jug.
I don't know how good this food is for hamsters, so if you're actually looking to know about that, look elsewhere. This review is for the other people who discovered that Brown's mouse food is too high in protein, but still want the variety of ingredients that the manufacturer adds to the mix.
NO DON"T BUY ITMar 18, 2012
By gerbilgenius This food is horrible for hamsters and gerbils. It is WAY to fatty! My gerbil started to eat it and I saw almost right away that he was getting fat. Gerbils and hamsters may love it but it's really bad for them. It has to many sunflower seeds, dried corn, and dried fruit. If you want your hamster or gerbil to be healthy don't buy it. It's a waist of money.
Great VarietyMar 01, 2012
By Mik My hamster Amigo liked alot of this food because there was so much different stuff he could eat. He didn' really like all the small seeds that seemed to be the bulk of it but he ate most of the rest.
