Fluval FX5May 06, 2011

These are pretty nice. You get three small bags of carbon. I should have figured out how much 330G was because they are kind of small for the Fluval FX5. I put two in my filter and I could still fit two more if I wanted. Next time I am going to buy the filter bags and just fill them up with carbon. This is cheaper then you will find at local pet stores, but I think I should be able to get more for my money if I fill my own filter bag.

Least expensive option for carbonOct 14, 2011
By Dale I was looking at purchasing carbon in a bulk container and inserting it into a re-usable medai bag. However, after crunching some numbers, it is actually cheaper to purchase this three-pack than it is to purchase carbon in bulk.
I only use it in tanks that I need to clear medication out, or have inserted some wood that is releasing tannins and making the water dingy. In an ongoing bassis, my filters don't include carbon. However, I like having some on hand just in case. These prepackaged bags are handy and great to use when needed.

Does the jobMay 28, 2011
By H. Huang Bought this for the Zoo Med 501 canister filter. Water does get pretty clean and I put live plants from the outside in the tank for my pet turtles. It'll filter stuff out like it should do.
Cheaper than bulk carbon!Mar 27, 2012
By The Penguin I started out with a used Fluval 205 filter and was using a nylon bag refilled with activated carbon. This was a mess. I bought a 406 filter which came with two of these carbon packs. I figured I would buy bulk carbon, more bags and save a lot of money. Much to my dismay, I was unable to find a source of inexpensive, activated carbon. If you wait for a good price and then compare the cost per weight of these bags with a half gallon container of activated carbon, you'll see that these carbon bags cost about the same. There is no dusty mess with these bags like there is with the bulk carbon. The quality of the carbon is excellent; there is no problem keeping three turtles in 100 gallons of water clean. The Amazon price is the best around.
