Works Great - Need to replacement lampDec 14, 2011
By cfo168 I purchased the 24 watt unit several years ago and it worked great. It cleared up the green floating algae in my tank in 4 days. I left the unit active eventhough the water was crystal clear. The UV lamp will last 3-6 months. The unit and the replacement lamp are expensive to replace but you really have no choice. Recently, I purchased a new unit for my 55 gallon tank. I will not leave the unit on continuously.
In summary, I recommend this product and give it 3 stars. Again, it works great but expensive.

By S. Kelly I took a chance despite the other reviewers' receiving bad lamps, and mine was dead on arrival too. These sellers should have checked their inventory after seeing these reviews. No such luck.
Bulb diedApr 20, 2012
By John Damiani the bulb died in a couple of months. Amazon issued me a credit. I dont even run it 24 hours a day. I only ran it about 5 hours a day and the bulb lasted about 2 months. This whole sysem is poorly designed.
Unit arived dead.Jul 13, 2011
By Yoan Medina Unit arived intact. The package was good and well but the unit was bad. Fallow the instructions to the letter when replacing it and there not much to it. Sucks to pay all that money for a light thats dead.

Green Killing MachineFeb 11, 2011
By Astronomy buff Thought this was a good product from the reviews but received a replacement unit that was dead. Made me realize how proprietary this product is which makes it a no buy for me. I currently have pulled this from the aquarium and don't intend to sink any more money in to it. The original bulb lasted only 6 months. Too expensive to maintain in my opinion. Just doing regular water changes has been much more beneficial. Invest in a Python water change unit and you'll be a lot happier.
