This Medium / Coarse Tooth stainless steel greyhound style comb is made in England and has the same high quality features you would expect in a comb twice this price. The narrow 1 1/8" long tines are riveted through the spine of the comb and easily penetrates the thickest of coats. This comb is designed for use on small to medium size dogs and Longhaired cats TOO! The difference in this comb and others is the sleek design, the very narrow tines penetrate, rather than push, the coat. That is why a coarse-spaced comb is better than a fine tooth comb as the tines must be spaced far enough apart to allow for insertion into the coat. This Greyhound Style Comb is a great value and perfect for combing small to medium size dogs. The coarse-spaced end is for Double, Longhaired and Curly coats. The medium-spaced end is for Flat and Hard Coats. Choose Your Dog's Coat Type. All coats should be brushed thoroughly with the appropriate BRUSH before combing. The comb is used to "test" what you have brushed by inserting the comb into the coat parallel to the skin. (As shown in second photo) This will allow you to find tangles, matting or clumps of undercoat.
Combing is the important second step of optimum skin and coat care. | | | Features: | |

Works very well on my Cavalier Kings Charles Spaniel (especially on his ears)Apr 02, 2011
By PAUL BRADSHAW We have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Buddy who is a wonderful dog and loved by the whole family. His fur does have a tendency to get matted and knotted, especially when he goes outside in wet weather. In particular his beautiful ears are prone to tangles and clumping. This comb has proved to be the perfect solution to keep Buddy's fur and ears nice in between visits from the mobile grooming van. It is the most effective by far of all the grooming combs we have tried and is extremely strong. It is good to be able to use the coarse side first to remove the large tangles and then move on to the fine side to finish the job.

FINALLY! AN EASIER WAY TO REMOVE MATS AND TANGLES!Jul 11, 2010
By Elaine L. (Upstate NY) I have two other grooming combs that I've tried, in vain, to use on my two Bichon's mats. Finally, something that works! The teeth on the other combs were too closely spaced, and never seemed to "slide" through my dogs' coats, no matter how much I'd brushed them. Now, after using the Doggyman slicker brush (which I highly recommend) I go over the coat with the coarse side of this comb to catch any remaining mats and tangles. Works like a charm. And for the first time in ages both my dogs will sit still through the whole process. Wish I'd bought it sooner!

Grooming wonderSep 19, 2011
By Laura A. Mcgowan I purchased this tool for my Norwegian Forest cat who had matts that I thought would have to be shaved off, but this tool prevented that catastrophe.
