Killed my fish!Oct 28, 2010
By Mathias Bonse My wife bought a Finnex 300W heater in May 2009. Last week, it overheated, and killed all her fish! She had over $400 worth of freshwater fish in the tank, they were all dead when we got up in the morning. The water temperature in the tank was over 100 degrees C! Don't buy from Finnex!!!

I used this heater in my 650 gallon pond all winter. It kept the water between 60-70 degrees. Amazing! So much better than glass heaters.

By David The HMA 300 titanium 300 watt aquarium heater I bought some time ago. I really like this tank heater it hasn't failed me at all. I like the control on the outside of the tank you don't have to pull the heater from the tank to ajust temp. The only thing is you have to have a good thermometer as the control that you set the temprature with is not right on. But then any heater is not right on. Because you have lighting that changes the water temp during the day as does any sun light that might hit your tank. I would recamend this heat to anyone that has a larger aquarium. I am using this heater in a 55 gallon tank and it holds the temp within a coupel of degress of the setting. And the titanium tube will not brake like the glass heaters. When you first set temp make sure you watch tank temp until it ajust so you don't boil your fish friends. You should do this with any tank heater.I would say set the temp a little low to start with by about 5 dgrees and bring temp up slowly so you don't shock your fish by bring temp up or down to fast.

Aquarium heaterDec 19, 2011
By Bryan This could be a good heater, but it needs to be installed horizontaly! It is clear that the designers of this heater did not have an aquriam! Because it needs to be mounted horizontaly, it uses suction cups to hold it that way. In my 50 years of fish keeping I have found suction cups get brittle and generally don't work very long. so keeping it horizontal will be a challenge to keep it that way. I will NOT buy another one of these heaters. I am going to get an external heater controller so then it will not be a problem.
