4Overall a Good Cage with Add-onsMar 10, 2010
By Sarah
I bought two of these suites (one each for my dwarf Robo hamsters) and am pleased. I couldn't get a wire cage because my 4 cats would be able to reach their claws between the bars and could potentially hurt a hamster, so I decided plastic would be much safer. The plastic pieces are sturdy and I especially like the ingenious lock connectors. I can easily move the units without any pieces falling off. I originally put the Robos in a homemade cage made from a huge storage bin to give them more floor space, but they were scared and didn't move around much, choosing instead to hunker down into the one piece of Habitrail (the den) that I left in the bin. So after a couple weeks, I decided to move them back into the Habitrail Ovo Suites. I placed the tubes horizontally since they have trouble climbing vertically (even with the dwarf-sized tubes). They are timid by nature and seem to enjoy all the tunnels and small spaces they can find and hide in. The only drawback is that I would like them to have more running room but they really don't like "wide open spaces" as some hamsters do and would rather crawl through tunnels and hide out in several strategically placed dens. Here are my pros and cons:

Pros: designed for dwarf hamsters, cat/dog proof, sturdy, nice to look at, easy to take apart, lots of tunnels and add-on pieces for hamsters to enjoy, easily attaches to other (non-Habitrail) brand cages and accessories

Cons: expense, big slots in running wheel could injure small hamsters, water bottle will leak if moved, some hamsters may find it hard to climb the slippery stairs to reach the food bowl, there's less airflow inside than a wire cage

5Best cage for the price that I've foundJan 10, 2011
By P. Kinyon "Boniekk"
I've been using this cage for my Siberian dwarf hamster for around 3months, he absolutly adores this cage, no messes, easy to clean, and is perfect size for 1-2 dwarf hamsters, or any small animal around the same size. (Mice may have trouble using the water bottle due to being too short)

Pros:

-Very easy to get your furry friend out whenever you want (Even easier if you play with him/her daily.. After a while they'll come when they hear the "click" from the cage when you open it)

-Cleans easy

-Easy to take apart and put back together

-Cat/dog proof (Well as long as it doesn't fall from high up)

-Perfect size, Not too big, not too small.. May consider adding to it if you have the money and space to.

Cons;

-The wheel has thin cuts thru it to keep "waste" out of the actual wheel, and some hamsters may get their legs caught in it.. I'd recommend getting the OVO trainer just to be save, and anyway it'd open up alot more room in your cage and it only cost 15$

-Tubes may be too small for larger hamsters as it is made for dwarfs, so if you have a large sized one they may not fit through the tubes.

-Water bottle may leak if even slightly not placed in correctly, and leaks if filled fully recommended to only fill up to 3/4 with water

-Steps to the food dish are slippy, may want to add some stick on grips if you see that you're hamster can't figure out a way up. (Mine figured out to sort of grab onto the back of his wheel and climb up, he seems to have no issues that way)

-

Some notes, and corrections to a few things people seem to have mentioned;

-Small hands required to put food in the food dish due to the back door not going up very far;
Incorrect, the food dish actually comes out which makes it very easy to refill and clean. (All you have to do is lift it up a bit while squeezing the sides a bit and slip it right back in)

-Tubes too small for regular dwarf hamster, or hamster is afraid to use them;
If it truly is a dwarf it should have no problem, though even my own hamster was afraid to use them at first.. I decided to stick him into a old large pill bottle that my cousin had, and hold the tube up the opening and let him try to go thru on his own and since then he has no problems using the tubes, it just takes some time for them to get used to them.. or tempt them to try them by putting some good smelling treats at the other part of the cage.

-Have any questions I didn't mention?
Ask me! I'd be glad to answer since it'd give me something to do anyway.

5Great for Roborovski Hamsters!May 17, 2011
By gabba "wloftin"
I can't imagine this being as good for the other dwarf hamsters, as they are not as small, but this is perfect for robos! I have it set up just like in the picture... the thing I recommend is to get a different wheel, and remove the wheel and insert in the large bubble and add a small igloo to the top loft... mine sleep in the loft in their igloo all the time, and come out to play and eat in the large bubble... I turned the "den" into a sand bath that they also love to roll around in... Great cage, absolutely love it!

5Love it!Oct 11, 2010

The home is loved by our rodent. It has many different places to hang out in and explore. I wish I was a rodent so I could have so much fun! It has a big room with hidout, food and excersize wheel, a water room, bedroom, loft and tunnels to connect it all. I all comes apart as needed for cleaning and can be added to easily. What a brilliant design. Loved by all! :-)

3Cute, but there are some design flaws.Jan 04, 2011
By Kimberly Wong
The Good: modern design and fairly easy to assemble. Some parts I had to use some extra muscle.

The Bad: the hamster is easily scared, so trying to trap it in the "carrying case" is impossible.

The Ugly: 1) water bottle leaks because there is no ball bearing. So when the hamster goes and drinks, it needs to go through the puddle of water. It's especially gross when there is dirt/poo in the puddle or when you remove the whole piece for cleaning. *** warning, the side cover has holes and the water can leak all over you. (yuck!) 2) the "door" to the food box does not open all the way. You need some really small hands or fingers to clean out the dish. I usually end up with food everywhere.

Overall, the hammy seems to like it. But if I would have known about some of the issues, I may have looked into another alternative.
