5Great ProductAug 07, 2010
By J. Owen "Great Dane Owner"
This trolley works great and was easy to install. I thought I needed the 100' line but actually only needed about 75' so instead of cutting the excess I ran it a different direction and can attach another lead to it for a short run. The plastic coating has held up very well and the nylon pulley is quiet. The lead is one long piece which let me install each end of the line high enough that I can walk under it across the yard with no problem. The included stops help keep Isis far enough away from the door so she can't jump on it when she wants in the house. I would highly recommend this product.

2Good concept, poor qualityJun 07, 2011

The trolley was easy to install. Found the spring to be a little to weak, it was compressed under the weight of the cable. The trolley ran 86 feet between two trees at 7 feet high. Our 50lbs doberman puppy, 7 months old, broke the trolley in less then 20 minutes. She pull the cable out of the lead slug that held the cable at the spring end. I had to cut the cable and fix it with a turn buckle and two U-clamps. The second time she broke the cable at the other end. Yes, I said she broke the cable, it is not pull out like the first time, it broke. I will have to shorten the cable to 77 feet and move it to a different tree to fix it, for the second time. I think it will work, just a lot of trial and error.
I would not buy this again, I believe the spring is under sized and the cable broke. The cable issue might have been my fault, but I don't think so. I will update this review if she breaks it a third time. My dog weights under 50lbs and is only 7 months old.

4Reasonably good but allow slackMay 02, 2011
By M. Dwyer "trngdev"
Made with generally high quality materials but like a chain, the weakest link is an issue. It's a very strong 100' cable and somewhat heavy as a result. I ran it between two large trees approx. 90' apart and connected it using the supplied hardware. The cable has a pre-attached spring at one end that is supposed to allow some give. Unfortunately, the spring is undersized based on the weight of the cable and is completely compressed even when the cable itself is not tightly strung. As a result, 4 days after installation when some 1-20 mph wind gusts flexed the trees (large, ~100+ feet tall) the pre-installed loop that attached the spring to the cable failed and the cable disconnected from one tree. Luckily, the trolley itself did not come off the cable and the dog did not escape.

I've since transitioned to a spring more in line with those you see on garage door openers to maintain some give. Keep in mind, this is for 50 pound and up dogs and I'm using it for our 22 pound 10 month old beagle. She's feisty and fast but certainly under the parameters for the device. So, it's a useful device but be aware that it has a weakness due to the mechanical stress potential in a standard installation and you might want to anticipate that with a stronger spring/relief mechanism. Beagles are affectionate and fun little dogs but they're easily distracted by scents and at risk of wandering off and into traffic. They're also so focused on sent that an invisible fence is only a slight distraction. If you go with standard fences then all the experts suggest you bury 6-12" of the bottom of the fence so they don't dig out. That's quite an expense for the range they need to exercise, hence the trolley approach -- but it needs some modification.

5Works GreatJul 30, 2010

This item works very well. I was very happy with the low price also. The lead coming down from the pulley is all one piece. I have another type of trolley system for my other dog and it has a metal pulley and a seperate lead that attaches to it. I like the seperate system a little better for its ability to accept other leads (either longer, shorter, replacements, etc.) But, this design is quieter, mainly due to the nylon material used, rather than metal. All in all, I would definetly recommend this product, particullarly based on the low price and great functionality.

1Absolutely terribleMay 17, 2011

This product is pathetic. How can they sell something that is made to such a low standard. It broke the first day our dog was on it. He is an 85lb GS and he snapped the end that was attached to the spring after less than a few hours or normal use. Luckily I saw it happen or we would likely have lost our dog. I wish I could get my hands on whoever is responsible for this shoddy product, do not buy if you value your dog.
