Ok if it's the only kind availableOct 05, 2010
By D. P. I've had a chinchilla for a year now and he came to me with this dust in his belongings. I'm giving it 3 stars because it's ok, but it never seemed to do the job. It lay on his coat and glistened like frost and he always looked like he needed to use it again even though he was obviously done and had moved on to something else. It's better than sand which is not recommended as it's too rough for their skin and can cause them iching and skin problems.
I switched to the chin owner recommended Blue Cloud and he instantly looked better. I switched because the other dust became available in my pet store. Kaytee does the job ok if you can't get anything else, but if you're buying Kaytee online you can get Blue Cloud. Do that. Blue Cloud is much better stuff.
As for human health issues with chinchilla dust, this stuff is no worse than if you had a parrot. I have allergies and have no issues with my chinchilla's dust. It settles out of the air within minutes of the chin using it. It's no worse than the chinchilla's fine fur, which will also be found all over. If you have any breathing concerns, don't get a chinchilla. They need to dust to stay healthy.

By burnsa22 Our 2 Chinchilla's love their dust baths. This 2 1/2 pound bag is great because it has already lasted months. You don't use much at once, so will probably last most of a year!
My Chinchilla LOVED this!May 06, 2012
By ProudMommaOfFurbabies Left my chinchillas fur beautiful! Shiny and soft! He loved it. Became his new favorite past time. Great price for the amount of dust!
Good Dust :)May 04, 2012
By Kristina Hoeller Although my little buddy can't talk to tell me if there are any differences in Chinchilla dust, he seems to enjoy this as he splashes around in his bucket to come out refreshed and a lighter shade of grey until he shakes it all off and sneezes. :)
