We purchased this harness for our 12 year old dog with bad hips, and is recuperating from surgery. We live in a bi-level and the stairs are just horrible for him, and us ! We had tried using a towel with little success , but knew that wasn't the answer. We ordered this, it was shipped promptly, and we love it, the dog loves it, and it is making life easier for all of us. After using it only 2-3 times, our dog now waits at the bottom of the stairs until we "hook him up" ,then we just go right up the stairs. This is a great purchase, and it is so nice to be able to help our aging fellow. It is very easy to put on and take off.

We bought this harness to lift our rescued greyhound in and out of our SUV. She does not like ramps and at 70+lbs she is too heavy to lift several times a day. The harness uses Velcro to adjust to the chest size of the dog. While our greyhound is not the biggest dog around by any means, we found that we could not adjust the harness tight enough to prevent it from slipping down from the chest cavity to the abdominal area which is considerable smaller. As a result, this harness slides a lot on her body and prevents a smooth lifting motion into the SUV. Unless you have a very large dog with a consistent body diameter between the front and rear legs, you will have a problem using this harness.

Lifesaver...and back saver! :o)May 04, 2011

Harley is a 70 pound, 15 yo German Shepherd that has Degenerative Myelopathy. Recently, we adjusted his phenobarb level to control seizures. The combination of the med change and the DM caused him quite a bit of difficulty walking...he looked like a drunk old man. To assist his walking while he adjusted to the med level, I had been using beach towels to keep him upright. It was ackward for him and painful for me.
I'm so happy that I found this harness on Amazon.com and it's been the best $14.00 I've ever spent. The harness fits him well. It's designed more for lifting in/out of vehicles but works well for assisting his walking as well. I mainly needed to make sure that he didn't lose his balance and to assist him with the steps. We've cruised the yard on his regular "patrols" numerous times per day, thanks to this harness.
He's a very independent dog but has accepted this harness easily. It is well-constructed and sturdy and will almost certainly outlast my old boy. Give it a try...you won't regret it.

This harness is very sturdy and the velcro closure and handles are strong. It is also very easy and quick to put on and the fit is good on my 70 lb black lab. It has taken some time for my dog to adjust to using the harness, but it is very useful in helping her get up stairs and also in lifting her into the car. It is best to make sure you have the harness fit snugly around your dog, otherwise it could slip when you are lifting. I definitely recommend this harness to anyone with a dog who needs a little help getting up stairs, etc.

I purchased this harness in a large because my 68lb lab-mix had to get TPLO surgery after tearing a ligament in her leg. It really helped me get her into and out of my car (a Honda Accord) to take her to the vet. I also used it after surgery to help her get around and up the stairs since she was in a lot of pain. It was a good investment---reasonably priced, sturdy, easy to use.
