5Lixit Glass is great!Nov 29, 2007
By Kelly Haltom
Love these water bottles since they are glass I know they are not leaching out the chemicals in to the water that result from plastic water bottles, so keep my animals safe and healthy as far as plastic toxins.

1poor qualitySep 17, 2011

I have five of these bottles and only one of them doesn't leak. It's the way the rubber washer fits into the lid, you have to make sure they're in there flat. It's a pain to do and a few of the ones I bought you can't even fix the washer, it won't go flat. And on one if you tighten the lid it'll pop off because the threading isn't right. For four out of five to leak is just poor construction. I'm very disappointed and will never buy a lixit again. I'm looking into other brands of glass bottles for my chinchillas. I need to be sure that they will have water while I'm in class all day, I can't just hope the bottle holds out until I get home. Lixit please fix this flaw in your bottles, it's just poor quality on your part and I would think as a leader in water bottles your products would be of a better grade that this. Your glass bottles are going where they belong, in the trash, more of my money wasted.

1I got a dudApr 07, 2011
By Pamela
I've experienced some leaky water bottles in my time, but this was just awful. There was fast dripping when I first hung it, but all the bottles I've bought leak a little at first and then stop after a minute - so while I thought the initial leakage looked a bit too fast, I decided to wait it out and see. I came back in five minutes and the entire bottle was empty, its contents pooled below it on the floor of the cage (my rats thought this was fun and were splashing around in it; I was not so amused). I tried hanging the bottle at different angles but just couldn't get it to work in any way that wouldn't leak profusely. Part of the problem was that it wasn't just leaking from the nozzle but also from the seam between the nozzle and cap (the seal wasn't tight enough I guess). I wrote about this in a review of the Super Pet variety and hate to sound like a broken record, but there just doesn't seem to be much consistency in the quality of these things: a friend of mine hated the Super Pet bottle but has this one and it works great for her; the reviews of this bottle are high but I had problems; the reviews of the Super Pet are low but I loved it; I've had similar experiences with other bottles when I was using the plastic kind. It seems like quality is random at best for these things. That being said, I wouldn't dissuade someone from buying this, I would just tell them to keep the receipt until they gave it a good test run.

3Rubber ring inside cap gets wornAug 31, 2011
By Jadeline
Pro: The bottle is made of glass. No plastic toxin leaking into the water.

Con: The rubber ring inside the cap becomes deformed after a few months of use. So the bottle leaks if the cap isn't carefully screwed on.

1leakyAug 22, 2011

Maybe this one was just a dud, but we've tried several times and it leaks all over the cage in a matter of hours, and we haven't even put an animal in there yet! Very disappointed.
