 Rubber ring STINKSOct 23, 2010

The bowl is nice, right size, but one of the most important features is horrible. The rubber ring that goes around the base of the bowl (to keep it from sliding around on the floor) has a gawd awful smell that I can't get rid of. It has such a strong rubber smell (like an old tire) that my dog won't eat or drink from the bowl. I have to remove the rubber ring in order for my dog to even go near the bowl. I've tried washing the ring with all kinds of soap and detergent, but the smell hasn't decreased a bit. Without the ring, this bowl is mostly useless because my dog noses it around on the floor. This isn't worth the cheap price. I'd spend more to get a bowl with rubber that doesn't stink up the room.

We purchased 2 of these for our toy fox terriers. They eat twice a day, they do not play with the dishes or try to move them around, they eat their food, then we pick the bowls up and wash them out. They are now totally useless. After we used them for 1 week, 2 feedings per day each dog, the rings around the bottom started retaining water as they were not a very tight fit and started getting loose around the bowl, the water that got in the rings would get all over the hardwood floors as it would not dry between feedings. In 2 weeks we had to take off the rings, wash the dishes, put the rings back on, what a pain threading the rubber ring back onto the dishes each time they were washed. Soon, the rings which are very cheap rubber had splits in them, now they are completly torn and cannot be put on the dishes. Do not buy these bowls, without the rings they just scrape up your floor and slide all over when the dogs try to eat their food. They are VERY light weight without the ring. A waste of money. These bowls do not even deserve 1 star.

The bowl is generous in size and certainly will NOT tip or spill. Our cat seems to like the wide but shallow design. My favorite feature is that it is SO SIMPLE to clean. Even "dried" canned food cleans out with ease. I would recommend this bowl.

The larger bowl is the perfect size for a small-large dog. I would think the small bowl would be way too small.
The bowl is high quality and does not tip. It washes easily by hand or in the dishwasher. Good value!

This dish is ok. The size is perfect, but there is a rubber edge band around the base that keeps it from sliding around. My lab puppy had the band off and destroyed in about 5 seconds after putting it on the floor with food in it. Disappointing...
