So far, so goodJul 26, 2006

I purchased this product the day before going on vacation, so i didn't have much time to research. I've owned it for 28 days, and it's been working fine so far. I use small pellets, not flakes- so that's all i can rate it for. It seems to work at the same times every day, and a uniform amount of food appears to drop. It is not quiet, so if it is used in a bedroom, make sure you adjust your feeding times as not to be disturbed while sleeping. I acually don't mind knowing when it's running, so if i'm around I can check on it's function. Time will tell if it's a great product- but so far, so good.
I must change my review- I too had one of the battery contacts break off, and the unit became unreliable. I'd often have to remove and replace the batteries to get it to work again. I'd look elsewhere before buying another.

Great if it lasts...Apr 24, 2007

This product is horrible. It does its job however, when you refill the machine and you ever so slightly rotate the disk that is attached to the actual motor when screwing the cap that is holding the food on to the machine... this screws up the feeder and motor.
I've owned 6 of these b/c I always needed it immediately since i travel so frequently. I have one at home and one in the office. Not one of these lasted more than 3 months.

Agree - this product is badJun 02, 2007
By G. Moore I bought one of these. Simply putting in the two AA batteries I got the impression it is a hunk of junk, because the battery contacts stick out too far and have to be bent flat (where you would expect them to be) to get the batteries in.
Anyway, I wanted to put the fish food in, so following the arrows in the instructions I turned the clear round thing that holds the food.
Big mistake! Apparently you are supposed to hold one part of the feed holder and twist the other. Instead I ended up rotating the barrel just as it would rotate when it dispenses food, and this "broke" the thing.
This is the same problem another review here talks about. It is not at all obvious that I was doing anything wrong. I even turned it in the direction of the arrow in the instruction sheet.
Overall, if you imagine the level of quality of an off-brand cassette tape player, you should know that this product is much worse. As soon as you buy it you can tell, starting from when you put the batteries in, all the way until minutes or days or weeks later when it breaks. This is junk.
The picture on the box is really pretty and they include a small container of fish food.

AwfulJul 26, 2006
By farmtrout A set of AA bateries will only power this thing for about 2 weeks...if it works. It's really messy. The battery compartment on mine was so cheaply made that I had to use some aluminum foil to get the batteries to make contact. Excess humidity in the air causes the food to clump which then blocks the food from coming out. I could go on but if you are still considering it at this point that's your fault.

A worthless piece of junkJan 09, 2007

I bought this automatic feeder over the holidays. For two weeks, it did deliver the food on time, but the quantity is not the same each feeding (all depends on gravity). By the third week, the wheel gets jammed frequently and the auto feeder fails to deliver the flakes. Exasperated, I contacted ebay and the seller was kind enough to refund me.
