 A little small, But great item.Oct 23, 2010

The pieces are really small, compared to other i have purchased, and fell through a little bit in the carbon holder cartridge in my 2 Emporer 400's, and it was fine for the canister filter i had. Seems like it will last me about 9-12 months.
Shipping was fast, and came exactly as described.

What can I say...It's activated carbon, doesn't have as much fine dust as some I've purchased before, and it does what it's supposed to do. I'd buy it again.

Since carbon filtering is unnecessary except in specific instances (such as removing a temporary water film due to seriously disturbing the substrate, or removing medication after a treatment), I plan to run out of carbon ...never. This is a big jug o' carbon, and even if I were to leave it in a filter year-round, changing it every 30 days, it would probably last at least a year. Maybe two. About the best deal on bulk carbon you'll find.

I bought this to use with a pet fountain where I bought a reusable filter. I found that the charcoal is VERY dusty and clogs up the filter. Every 3 or so days I find myself having to either replace the charcoal or clean out the filter.
