1Good ExpectationsMay 12, 2011

This product sounded great to keep all of the bugs out, slugs, ants, roaches, and so on. There were some flaws that infuenced my opinion. For one, the cat had to stand directly in front of the bowl where the motion sensor was. When the cat did stand in the correct place and if they moved over and started to eat from the side, it would close on their head. Two, it opened and shut too fast, scaring the poor, hungry animal. Number three, ants were easily able to find their way inside of the small openings on the sides...the main reason I bought this to keep from happening!! Needless to say, I had to return it. It was a learning experience, though.

3...it may scare your dog.Jan 10, 2011
By NiceGuy
This doggie bowl does what it's supposed to: it's got a large silver bowl that's removable and easy to clean and holds a good amount of food, the lid operation works as advertised: your dog (or you if you walk by ;-)) steps in front of the bow and the IR sensor causes the lid to pop open. The batteries seem to last a long time, and you have the ability to turn off the lid via a switch in the back.

Why 3 stars? Well, the lid opening and closing is a bit loud; it makes a jarring mechanical "gear" noise. We have a small dog and it scares the bejeesus out of him! While it's really funny, he doesn't want to go anywhere near the bowl..meaning he doesn't eat. So the bowl is pretty useless. If you have a big brave dog, maybe it'll work well. We've resorted to turning off the lid function and just open it for him when it's time to eat.

5Best dog dishMar 05, 2011
By Suki
This is perfect for my dog. My dog eats fresh food twice a day. In between meals when she gets hungry she goes for the dry food in the auto pet dish. I leave her dry food 24/7. This dish protects her dry food from dust and debris. She is not scared of it when the lid pops open. When I unpacked it and put in batteries I showed her how it works, pretending it's a toy. Once she figured it was harmless she got used to it.

5Works as advertizedApr 05, 2012

I bought two of them and they work great for my dogs we even take them camping. I read some of the other reviews and think they may have gotten a bad unit like with any new product. I would be lost without mine.

1Doesn't workMar 11, 2012

This thing is no good. It takes a long time before it reacts to the pet being in front of it. Then after it opens it closes about 5 seconds later. Pet starts to ignore it pretty quickly. Great idea. But doesn't work at all.
