4Large Wrought Iron 3 Level Chinchilla CageOct 16, 2011

I know it's not this company's fault but when I checked online to view my delivery status, it stated "delivered" and I wondered how this could be when I was work. When I arrived at my house, the box was in the stairway of my basement door and the FED Ex guy used both of my garbage cans to place in front of the box to obscure it from anyone who may be walking by the house. I'm glad that I live in the neighborhood that I do or else someone would have surely taken it.

I received this cage about a week after I placed the order, which isn't bad at all. The reason why I only gave it 4 stars is because the instructions that came with it are totally crappy. You basically have to figure out which screw goes where and which screws to use. I had to rely upon the picture to try to figure out how to put it together. Also, I removed the wire bottom because it's not good for a chinchilla's feet (spacing it too wide) and it will just be a matter of time before their little sensitive feet get caught in it and break. But understand removing this will cause a half-inch gap right above the litter pan in the front and back of the cage so you must be very careful. This would also cause your floors to become messy quick because the bedding will be able to fall out from the front and back. This cage wouldn't be ideal if you had small baby chins because their heads can get caught. I usually get my chinchilla cages from Quality Cage who make their cages with 1"x1" bar spacing w/o grates, but after moving I'm strapped for cash so I settled with this one for the time being. QC charges for the cage and the stand, but this is a great steal because they come together for a great price.

The bar spacing on the front, back and sides of cage are about 1/2 x 3" which should be okay for your chinchilla to not get their feet caught in them.

I used a phillip's screw driver and pliers to hold the nuts in place while I tighten the screws. Over all, this is a very decent cage for the price. If you're strapped for cash, this cage is the way to go. I love the storage space underneath the cage which I use to store bags of bedding, wood toys, etc. This makes it possible to keep their materials off the floor.

Besides the dreadful instructions and 1/2 in. opening created when removing a wired bottom that should be optional to use, this is a decent 4-star cage.
