Do not buy this bone for super chewers!Oct 12, 2009
By B. Patton I love the Nylabone brand, but not this bone. I have two dogs that will chew on bones all day, and the Nylabone bones were the only ones that stood up to their claims of only breaking off in small pieces. But not this bone. My 16 lb dog was able to eat a 1" piece from the corner of this bone. Also, it is hollow inside, unlike many of the other Nylabones.
Please pick a different Nylabone, don't buy this one if you have a super chewer like my dog!

DON'T BUY THIS BONE!!!!Apr 22, 2010
By SMP I have never written a review before but I felt I had to let people know that this bone is NOT SAFE!! As the other reviewers have said it is not solid like most other Nylabones. The end split wide open while our dog was chewing it and she got her tongue stuck! Our dog is a 103lb Great Dane and not even what I'd consider a "power chewer" we really just bought it because the size suited her and it was something new. We've used Nylabones for years and have never had an issue like this before; I did e-mail the company and requested they recall this bone and any others that are similarly constructed.

dangerous HOLLOW piece of junkSep 27, 2010
By Blandonite Nylabone claims to be "The Leader in Responsible Animal Care". My Neapolitan Mastiff (a Mastiff is pictured at the introduction to the "X-Large" product category on Nylabone's website) chewed a large sharp chunk out of his Dura Chew Plus - Bacon Souper in less than a week. I was shocked to discover that it was HOLLOW! Luckily my wife and I were there at the moment this occurred and we were able to get the dangerously sharp chunk of nylon out of our dog's mouth, and take the now incredibly dangerous broken Dura Chew Plus away. Dura as in durable? This poorly designed and constructed product needs to be recalled immediately as do any other HOLLOW Nylabone nonedible products. DO NOT PURCHASE!!! . Having been a customer for years, I am very disappointed. Contact Nylabone before purchasing any of their "nonedible" products and ask if they are HOLLOW, as there is no way of knowing by looking at them. Nylabone should be ashamed of themselves. The fact that Nylabone continues to sell the Dura Chew Plus Bone, after similar incidents (as shown by other reviews on Amazon from almost a year ago) proves that they are anything but "The Leader in Responsible Animal Care".

Pick Another Bone...Mar 05, 2010
By The Edge I have never had a problem with Nylabone until this bone. It split apart in about 5 minutes. I have a definite chewer that has chewed through everything. The only toys that last have been Nylabone and the Goughnut. I figured this would be a good different toy but it barely lasted.
Plus side is that Nylabone is sending me a different bone. I would highly recommend the regular flavored bones.

A rare miss by NylaboneDec 16, 2011
By Aaron Beals Let me say that I'm a huge fan of Nylabone products -- we have a power-chewing Golden Retriever who has managed to destroy "indestructable" dog toys again and again. Nylabone is the only product line that has stood up to him. The solid bones break up--by design--in tiny bits that can pass safely right through.
This bone was heavy and appeared to have the same form factor as the other Nylabones. However, this particular bone is *hollow*, something they don't advertise on the packaging. It took our dog about 1 week before he was able to crack the end -- I found one piece which was larger, sharp, and jagged, unlike the shavings that come off the solid bones.
I'll keep buying Nylabones, but for the safety of your pup, stick to the solid-core models.
