Piece of Junk ! !Feb 22, 2011
By redrock73 I saw this product and imagined how much simpler it would be on me to know the salinity and gravity of my tank at all times. I have a 200 gallon Reef Tank that is established with lots of flow. This product does not even come close to giving accurate readings. 1. The need will not sit still but is all over the place from the flow in the tank, I have moved it everywhere with no luck. 2. the suction cup sticks to the glass but the hole that is made for it on the meter is too big and the fish keep bumping it and down to the bottom it goes. 3. The unit does not come apart to clean, so after about 3 weeks the algae starts to make a home in it and it is impossible to read. After that it isin't even heavy enough to make a good paper weight!
Save your money and by a better Hydrometer somewhere else ! ! !
Not worth the the moneyApr 18, 2012
By Keith I have had this in my tank for 2 weeks now. It will not stay on the side. The suction cups DO NOT WORK! I am constantly fishing it up off the bottom. Also the water flow moves the needle to much to get an accurate measure.
Not worth ANY moneyMar 22, 2012
By R. Erwin I bought 2 of these at the same time, one for my 8 gallon biocube and one for my 75 gallon reef aquarium. I thought it would be easier to have one inside the tank to read at a glance and also have it small enough to not take away from viewing the tank. When they came in I put both of them in my large tank side by side and left them for a day as it says in the instructions. I noticed right away they were not accurate to each other, but I still gave them the time needed to acclimate. They never did get to the point that they were both the same. I contacted Oceanic and told them about the problem. They had me forward them my Amazon receipt to prove I purchased them. They sent me another free of charge (no complaint there). However, after a few days of leaving them in the tank they end up at the bottom of the tank. No matter what we do they won't stay attached to either the acrylic or glass tank sides. I emailed Oceanic back and told them of the problem. I didn't get any reply back. Save your money and buy another brand.
