Worked, not as well as advertisedJan 24, 2011
By R. Price The break detector did find the break in my fence, at least it got me to within 20 feet of the break. From there it was a matter of digging up the wire and finding the break. Of course, 20 feet is much better than digging up 1000 feet or more. Problem with this product is that it relies on clear frequency in the AM band, in a large metro area, Atlanta, there are so many AM radio stations that finding a frequency where no station exists is very difficult. Also, tones are very close together which really hampered the process. Finally, when I got down to the final stage of the location, I literally had to crawl through the yard to keep the receiver close enough to the wire to narrow the break down.

Wire break detector reviewJul 12, 2010
By Earl D. Lakia Used this to find a break in my 3.5 acre lot. Seemed to work OK. They kept it simple and low cost, but it did work. I had a single break. The two tones that are generated by the break detector transmitter aren't that much apart (tone wise) or different. But you can tell them apart. Too bad you have to bend over to hold near the ground. A 4 foot pair of ear phones and a stick to put the AM radio might be nice to walk the wire. If I was doing this a lot, I would fabricate something.

Handy locatorNov 06, 2011
By P. Moobed This wire break locator works very well. I was able to locate the broken wire for my robomower (<...>) within 15 minutes of connecting the ends to the transmitters. Digging the wires out of the grass would have taken me several hours. I found it easier to connect each side of the wire loop to each transmitter independently and track one tune with the radio. It was easier for me to recognize one sound and the transition to no sound as opposed to 1 sound transitioning to the other sound. The radio is adequate for the job and instructions are easy to understand.

Didn't pick up the break in wireAug 03, 2010
By Richard Blum The tones kept fading out with radio waist high, which led to couple false digs. The tones were most consistant holding radio near the ground. The product did not indicate a break where our wire break was. My husband went back to the regular wireless fence equipment and did his own short wiring in several places to narrow down the break location. For us this product was a waste of money. Make note that this product is not returnable.

This is the greatest thing if you have an in ground fence. Works great. An AM radio gives a tone when going one way and a different tone when going the other. You have to get pretty close, within a foot when about 500 feet away and the line is well buried. A radio is supplied but any one will do. I have 2 acres fenced, about 1800 feet. This is essential to finding breaks and gets used twice a year.
