4New Puppy OwnerAug 08, 2007

Most of the pet stairs I saw were too low for my tiny puppy to reach my bed (higher off the ground than an average bed). These stairs were the only set I saw that had the appropriate height and were very affordable. My pup, a tiny toy mixed breed, is able to reach the bed. These stairs aren't very attractive and don't look like they'd last for years, but at the price it was a very good purchase.

5Pet stepsSep 22, 2007

I love these steps. They help so much with my aging little cat. She's not as young as she use to be, and these help her get up to her favorite high ledges. I love them and so does my cat. I scooted her little behind up them a few times, and thats all it took. It has made her feel independent again. They are are a great size, plastic and very easy to keep clean. The best on the market. Thanks.

These are the greatest things since sliced bread! They make the ones advertised on TV look pretty chintzy. Now my little man can get in bed with me any time he wants & not have to wake me to give hin a lift!Petmate Pet Steps

1Too steep & too narrowNov 24, 2008
By D. P. Mendoza "Gypseas in VA"
We have two basset hounds who need help up and down their favorite chairs. This product has a nice wide base, but then narrows towards the top. The risers are very tall so it's hard for the dogs to get their legs up over the next step. Since the steps narrow towards the top, the dogs become less sure-footed when they are now longer then the step is.

The product is sturdy, big and bulky if that's what you need. Not ideal for heavy dogs with short legs. It might be better suited for taller dogs, though.

I would not buy this product again.

5Excellent, weight-bearing pet stairsOct 23, 2009
By Troy Ledgerwood
I purchased one of these a few years ago, after looking at several options. At that time, the steps were Made in the USA (I assume they still are). The steps are one piece, vacuum-formed (so the shape you see outside is the same shape, but hollow, from the bottom). Due to the one-piece construction, they will hold a LOT of weight. So, these will work for the smallest, or the largest of dogs. The carpet pads are securely attached, and a quick vacuum will clean them. The plastic is easy to clean with a damp towel or sponge. The height of the stairs is perfect for a bed, but might be a little tall for a low-sitting couch. One concern some pet owners may have is the interface with the floor. The plastic "walls" touch the floor on the front, and the back corners only. There are no rubber or carpet pads to keep the stairs from skidding around on a hard surface floor. If it's on a carpeted surface, there shouldn't be a problem. In my case, I have a concrete floor, and a beagle. When I first got the stairs, my hyperactive puppy would race into my room and hit the steps full speed, trying to get onto my bed. This would cause the stairs to move around. I finally solved this by shoving a heavy box in the hollow underside, pinning the stairs to the side of the bed. Overall, I love these steps, and my beagle constantly uses them to race on and off the bed.
