 Kittens like it but design flawsSep 04, 2011

It makes a pleasant running-water sound and my kittens like it. They like to drink right from the fountain and now they rarely ask me to run the bathroom faucet. I would have given it 5 stars but for 2 things: it's noisy and eventually leaves a small puddle on the floor. Both were fairly easy to fix and I don't know why the manufacturer didn't fix it. The top and bottom pieces vibrate together and are noisy and the water running down from the fountain splashes out of the basin just enough to create a small puddle. This happened even when I made sure I carefully seated both the pump and top piece. I bought some tiny felt circles at Walmart and stuck them between the top and bottom pieces. I was able to use them to slant the top piece enough so that I don't get a puddle and put them in enough places so the vibration is much less so now there's only a barely noticeable noise. If you're willing to mess with it a little it's great.

Great little water dish! I love that it has the same design as the porcelain and stainless steel model for fraction of the price! Only do not by the filters for the other styles because this one uses a different filter! My cats love it and it takes up less space than their old fountain! One design flaw the pump is attached to the basin so don't consider it dishwaser safe, but easy enough to hand wash!

The minus one star is because the instructions for assembling this fountain were out and out wrong! However once we got it together, it has been superb. No noise. No mess. Easy to clean. Since it has a cord, plugging it in can be a little tricky if you don't have a convenient outlet.

Mary-Kate does not. I've been using the plastic fountain for over a month now. Well, my cats have. I just fill it and change the filter. My male cat took to it right away. He loves it. My feral queen was less impressed. I ran it intermittently for a few days so that she could drink while it was still and get used to the idea that this is now her water dish, and now she drinks when it's running. The water stays nice and clean. The fountain doesn't make much noise unless the water gets low. I would buy this again.

I bought this because I got sick of turning the bathroom faucet on for my cats and I found it really cheap at Ross. It worked fantastically for a couple weeks until I woke up this morning and the pump had burned itself out! I thought about trying to find a new pump but I may just end up buying a new fountain. My cats loved it and I really enjoyed not having to turn the faucet on 10 times a day for them!
