Not a choice for syrian hamstersMay 21, 2005
By Luna-tic This wheel is very nice, however, it is much too small for syrian hamsters. It is, however, suitable for mice and dwarf hamsters.
It is well constructed and durable. It is only about 5 and a half inches in diameter - a standard sized syrian hamster requires a wheel of at least 7 inches diameter.

I thought it was perfect in the beginning,Sep 15, 2007
By C. Allen and it was. But soon it started to make this awful noise that kept me up at night. I had to put Abby (my dwarf hamster) outside of my room at nights, and I hated to do that. So I had to get rid of it. I replaced it with a silent spinner, and so far that's done well. As someone had stated, this wheel isn't big enough for Syrians, but perfect for dwarf hamsters. Let's just hope yours doesn't end up like mine - trash.
Wish it came in a larger sizeJan 02, 2009
By PuppyLove I love this wheel because of the little slots down the middle that let my Syrian hamster's droppings fall out! My hamster likes it too - she enjoys crawling in and out of the openings. And it has operated very quietly in the few weeks we have had it (attached to the side of the cage, not on the stand). But our hamster has grown too large to run easily in it (as another reviewer said it's only about 5-1/2" in diameter), and it doesn't seem to be available in a larger size. I've been looking in vain for a larger wheel with a similar design. I give it 5 stars for a smaller animal.
