 Works quite well and much better than normal tie outsApr 09, 2010

Only issue I have is that my dog only weighs 13 pounds and the pull is a little tough for him, but once he has been on it for a few minutes he gets used to it. Works very well and prevents him from getting all tangled much better than a regular tie out. All in all a great device well worth the $15 I paid for it.

I bought this product cause I thought it would work great for my toy poodle. But, it is to hard for her to pull. She is about 7lbs. So, if you have a small dog, then avoid this product. Would work great for a medium size dog. I think it would be to wimpy for a large dog. So, beware of what you are buying.

I am horrified to tell you that my 8 pound, 6 month-old Pomeranian puppy on the third time he was on this retractable tie-out, CHEWED RIGHT THROUGH THE BLACK CORD AND WAS OFF THE LEAD AND RUNNING FREE! Luckily I was in my yard closeby or this could have been ugly! This is not a properly and safely designed stake-out if a small Pom puppy can chew right through the cord!
I think anyone thinking of buying this should know that this can be chewed through and your dog can be free in a minute and running across a street the next! I hate to think what would have happened to my Bindi if I hadn't heard the line snap back into the retractor after he chewed through it--luckily I was able to check immediately and see it was chewed right through and catch him before he ran into our street! Shame on you as designers and manufacturers for not making this safer for puppies and dogs of all sizes!
Would I recommend it? I like the idea of a retractible and swiveling stake-out but I would never tell anyone to buy this--it is too dangerous to your dog's life! BUYER BEWARE!

I have to two dogs. I have purchased several types of tie outs and they always get in a big tangled mess. I love the retractable tie out. I now put the dogs out, unhook them and the leashes return. IT is great. I wish they were a little longer but I am content otherwise.

I wanted a retractable tie out for my shih-tzu, Molly and this product is just what I was looking for. I like the fact that the top of the tie out rotates completely around, preventing tangles. I was concerned that my 13 lb. dog would be too small to handle the force of the retraction, but she adjusted to this tie out very quickly. The only "negative" is that although the line is nearly 20 ft., it is just a bit too short for our needs. I would definitely recommend this product. The best part is no more tripping over the tie out lying loose in the yard and my home has a much neater appearance.
