Gets out of the way easily; Great valueMar 18, 2002

I see some negative comments here about this gate, but I disagree. We installed this gate 2 years ago in a high-traffic area between kitchen and front hall. Sure, it wasn't as easy to install as a pressure mounted gate, but you won't find another telescoping gate for a wide opening at this low a price. We have found it to be sturdy and easy for adults to open. The thing I like most about this gate as compared to other wide-opening gates is the fact that it telescopes (collapses) down to one panel's width and then can be swung flat against the wall on its pivots to get it out of the way. This is really handy for those times when baby is NOT in the room. We love this gate.

Sturdy Gate That Gets The Job DoneFeb 22, 2003

While we haven't had the chance to use this for our newborn, we decided to put the up gate early to keep our 3 80lb dogs out of our dining area. The gate took about 20 minutes to install using a drill and screwdriver. It works great in the large opening between our dining room and living room. It is sturdy and contrary to previous reviews, pretty easy to latch and unlatch once you get the hang of it. Highly recommend.

Awesome GateDec 12, 2002
By Stephanie Kenaston I had an odd area between my kitchen bar and wall that was 52 in. wide that I wanted to gate off. It separates the kitchen/office from the livingroom/diningroom. I was pleasantly surprised by how tall the gate was. 31in. Even my 11 year old cannot step over it. It was easy to install. Just screw in the two strips on either side of where you want the gate to be. If you have a stud or solid wood, you are screwing it into, the screws are plenty long enough. Then just snap it on. Easily removeable for out of sight storage. You do still have the strips on the wall, but their not bad to look at. We find it opens and closes easily for you, but not for your toddler. My 1 1/2 and 3 year old cannot do it. It will fold back on the wall connection hinge when not in use. Either way, you decided. It took me about a half an hour to install. It holds up to my big dogs and kids. Great for wide spaces!

Definitely a keeper!Oct 11, 2001
My husband and I had a hard time finding a gate that would fit the space we had between our dining room and our living room without having to pay a small fortune. Then we found this gate. Its wonderful! We bought it to keep our puppy out of the livingroom because we don't want him jumping on our new baby when she is born. It was pretty easy to install and it fits the opening perfectly. Its very easy to slide together to close and it opens very easily. It doesn't seem to be the sturdiest thing in the world but it keeps the dog out of the livingroom where he can wreck hovac! I know it will work well with the baby once she is born and starts crawling around too. I am sure once our baby learns to walk and climb, we'll have to get a different gate because this one isn't really sturdy--but for now, its doing what its intended to do!

Love this gate !Feb 22, 2003
By David McKenna This is the best gate ever. I bought it two yrs ago and it is still going strong and we use it a million times everyday. We have it between our kitchen entry and our family room. It is durable, easy to take off if you need to, nice to look at. My 60 lb dog also puts her weight on it and it doesn't budge. One of the best gates out there, and is great for wider doorways. You will not regret your purchase. Awesome product for the price.
