It provides nitrogen in both the nitrate form and the plant-preferred ammonium form. However, no free ammonia is released because the ammonium in Flourish Nitrogen™ is complexed and unavailable until utilized by the plants. Flourish Nitrogen™ also provides nitrate for those plants that can readily utilize nitrate as well. For maximum benefit use with Flourish Phosphorus™ and Flourish Potassium™. Unlike competing products, Flourish Nitrogen™ is entirely phosphorus-free, making it possible to adjust the nitrogen level in an aquarium without affecting phosphorus levels. | | | Features: | |

You should consider dry fertilizer insteadSep 09, 2011

This product does provide nitrogen to the aquarium but be aware it's not super potent: It's 1% Nitrogen - 0% Phosphorous - 2% Potassium. The actual chemical content of this is potassium nitrate and iminium salt (urea). I'm of the plant keeping school that says: "test your water then add back the deficient nutrients" as opposed to the "estimative index school" (but that's a debate for another forum). To hit 10ppm of nitrogen in a 55 gallon aquarium you need about 10.4ml of this product. I'd suggest you look into using dry chemical potassium nitrate. It really is cheaper, easier to work with, and does the same thing (without the name brand label & price)
Cleared up my algaeFeb 18, 2011
By Brett Johnson I had some bad green water algae problems due to some nutrient imbalances in my tank (lack of nitrogen to be exact). Once I started dosing regularly with the Seachem Flourish Nitrogen the water cleared up in no time. The only problem is due to this I have some green spot algae growth now but at least you can brush that off the sides and plants.
Also all my plants started to grow like no other when I started using the nitrogen.
