Perfect for degus, not necessarily ChinchillasJun 13, 2011
By Jenna Riane
"Baker & Mac Goddess Extraordinaire"
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R388VHD2WMVMN3 I am posting this because everyone keeps asking about the size - I got this for my two degus, Nibbler and Amy. Degus are bigger than gerbils, but smaller than chins and they fit perfectly in this dust house. I was hoping they could both go in at the same time, but it is too small for that. My goos are about 7-8 inches long not including their tails (they are hard to measure, they are very squirmy). Chinchillas are at least 3-5 inches bigger than that, also not including their tails. If you have a large or fat chin, it is not likely to fit in this bath house.
For my degus, it is great. It is sturdy, ceramic (can't be chewed!!) and is easy to wash. The colors are fairly hideous in my opinion, and mine has a slanted silkscreen of the words "Chinchilla Bath." The ears are kinda cute, I guess, though if they made it without ears I would have gotten it without ears. The open side is not really high enough to prevent all the dust from escaping when they roll, but it does a better job than my previous makeshift bowl did. Since there are very few options out there (basically this and the giant plastic house), I went with the one that will last forever unless I drop it. The color in the video is the lavender, though you don't get to choose when you buy it here.
I hope this helps to decide whether your pet will fit!

Great for HAMSTERSDec 03, 2011
By grrr This bath house is much smaller than you would think however it is perfect for a syrian to play in even making it their hideout. Hamsters like sand baths but I have trays for that things like this make a very nice house or an easy to clean potty all in all I would get it again for hammy's even though the hole may be a little high for some that is easily fixed by giving them something to climb on or simply putting it a little deeper in the bedding.

Degu dust bathMar 02, 2011
By Indy Mom I purchased this for my Degus. It is the perfect size for them to use as a dust bath, or to just hide out in. I leave it in the cage for them to enjoy.

Great hidey holeJun 25, 2008
By Rick A. Riedlinger These make great hidey holes for chins- but don't have enough room for bathing. The warnings of them tipping over and suffocating chins can be safely ignored.
It's too bad they cannot be ordered by color- yellow, green, blue, and purple.
LOVE this product!May 06, 2012
By ProudMommaOfFurbabies Love that this is ceramic so that my chinchilla can't chew on it! Also love how it keeps the dust inside!
