 Lookout or outhouse?Jan 30, 2010

When we got our hamster, we got the Super Pet CritterTrail Activity Accessory Kit 3 hoping (but not expecting) the hamster would use the outhouse as... well, an outhouse. But as things go, she chose to use the outhouse as an outhouse AND a bedroom. That was a bit gross, so we got this lookout hoping that she would use it for one function and the outhouse for the other. We replaced the loop on the accessory kit with this lookout (since she would sometimes urinate in the loop, which would end up leaking through the ventilation holes).
She chose to use the outhouse as her bedroom and this lookout as the outhouse, which actually works for me since the top of this is easy to open with the twist-lock, so it's easier to clean.
Urine leakage isn't an issue since we have the fun-nels from the accessory kit leaning against a wall (since we're worried her weight will tip the fun-nel setup). We just turned the lookout so any urine pools in the one corner and gets soaked up by the bedding which is then easy to clean up.

My Syrian Hamster loves this lookout. This particular model is ONLY THE LOOKOUT, it doesn't come with any attached tunnels, it fits with all the same brand tunnels perfectly though. The color I received was a blue base with a turqouise colored top, not quite green like in the picture. Overall great quality and easy to clean.
My hamster uses this as his den, he does use the bathroom in it also- instead of his outhouse, but it's very easy to clean, just make sure you clean the tunnels below as well (duh).

My hamster, Han Solo, loves his lazy look-out! I haven't had any problems with it falling or not being secure. I have him in a Crittertrail Extreme Habitat. It's extremely easy to assemble and attach to the cage and my hamster loves running up and down the tube.

I really like this addition to my hamster cage but it falls really easily. I'm not sure if I attached the piece wrong but I think the fact that it is falling is not very safe for the hampster

Very nice addition to our setup. It opens easily for cleaning and interacting with pet. The twist close top keeps it secure and will last longer than the lookouts with tabs.
