Great fun for kids and hamsterOct 23, 2008

The whole 'Critter Trail' system has been great for us. I recommend getting one of the 'all plastic' cages and not one with wires as there aren't as many parts to clean and assemble.
The tubes themselves are easy to clean and manipulate. We set up a different system each week and hamsters will go check out everything to get comfortable with it, so they will hit all the tubes.
We put the food in a different location each week as well.

I love how sturdy the Critter Trail products are. My sons' gerbils are quite happy with their extended trails. They don't worry about the gerbils escaping at all! My only complaint is that sometimes the pieces stick together too well. Once in place, don't think about taking them apart. Also, several sets were needed in order to make the cage and trail system functional. (That is my biggest reason for deducting a star.)

I can't believe it, but I have invested a small fortune in little plastic tubes that most likely cost 1/100th of what I pay for them. However who can resist a simple minded furry rodent running through a colorful tube? I think I am going to quit my full time job, so I can make a lower priced generic gerbil tube system. These are safe, fun, but the bottom line is they are just too expensive for a bit of plastic. They do all fit together well, but are tricky to pull apart until you get the feel for it. They will fit into the super pet cages, but they also fit into the aquarium lid covers that you can buy at local stores.

This was exactly what we needed to provide a turnaround for our little gerbils. They still love to chew on it but it seems to be holding up.
