Product Features are all wrongAug 26, 2009
By The Mom I ordered this because it said it was for "ferrets, rabbits and guinea pigs". It is NOT. It also says the panels are 55 inches long, they are NOT. They are 5 1/5 inches long - BIG difference.
It is also NOT 24 feet wide, it is 24 INCHES wide.
Someone wasn't paying attention. Guinea Pigs are WAY bigger than hamsters. This thing is smaller than my GP's cage... not very useful as a playpen.
I notified the company horseloverz and they are supposed to make changes. I'm sure this is fine for a hamster (as the box states - hampsters and gerbils) so if you have hamsters, go for it. Do not get this for a ferret, rabbit or guinea pig.

Pretty Good, if a Little ShortFeb 02, 2009

I bought this cage for my large, Syrian hamster. He did figure out fairly quickly how to climb over the edge. However, the pen is large enough that I was able to put in a stationary wheel and a few other toys. Those keepy him entertained enough that he's stopped trying to escape anymore. Also, keeping the pen in a circle helps to, as if there's a corner, it's easier for him to shimmy up.
The pen stays together VERY well, easily assembled and VERY easily folded up to put away. The mat is just the right size for the cage and provides easy clean up. I think this would be great for smaller, dwarf hamsters, and all hamsters and gerbils as long as they're supervised.
The metal bars are thick enough that it's impossible to be chewn through on and there's a "hole" that can be used to attach it to any hamster cage, but can also be kept closed.

My Hamster Escaped from this!Jun 10, 2009
By Jana Younger This is advertised as an add on to your cage. It even has a place for a connector tube. I do not recommend this item unless you plan on using it only under close supervision and NOT attached to a cage. My daughter's dwarf hamster escaped. I think he climbed out over the top by hoisting himself up on the purple connector square. In any case, he's gone and is no where to be found. My daughter is very upset and so am I. Be very wary of this product. It is well made but not to be used as an add on to the cage, no matter what the box says!

Horrible But Cool ProductApr 09, 2010

The idea is great- your hamster comes out into a more open space and your can play with him easier.
The execution is horrible. As many have noted, the hamster can escape fairly easily. The mat can move and tear pretty easily.
The other issue for us is our hamster can move the entire cage easily, pushing it off the mat. Then he starts tearing at the carpet. It also creates bends that make escape easier, and their is the risk of it falling over.
This is annoying because for a little extra design it would be perfect- a little higher, a little strong, a little thicker mat.
Maybe it works better for mice or dwarf hamsters, but I've read of dwarfs also escaping.
After a while, the fun of the playpen is lost due to the constant fear of escape and the constant need to be readjusting.
I am going to look for a open top aquarium and make my own.

I work for a popular pet store and have in three short months aquired 2 fancy mice and 2 chinese dwarf hamsters. I bought this playpen because I thought it would be fun for them to get out of their cages...my hamster figured out how to scale the wall in LITERALLY less than 5 minutes!!!
