I purchased this cage several weeks ago to home a rescue rabbit. The instructions and assembly of the cage was easy. It didn't hurt that I have another cage exactly like it. The only difference is that this one came with a small shelf and ramp so Peter rabbit could rest above the cage bottom. The removable tray is great! It is one of the major reasons why I bought this particular cage. It is easy removed and cleaned; it is also quite deep, so any mess he makes is not "piled" near him. I reviewed a lot of cages before deciding to purchase this one. Pricing is very important to me....after all....I'm broke. I rescue rabbits and work as a foster mom through a local animal shelter; so, the cheaper the better. In terms of the cage dimensions and the removable tray as well as the easy opening top....this was the best buy I could find. What was even better is that I set up an Amazon Prime trial and got next day shipping free. What could be better? The ONLY downfall to this cage is the removable shelf. Instead of making a shelf that can be clipped onto the cage frame, this one just sits on the frame and "clicks" into place. So, anytime the shelf was bumped from below, it would fall down and spook Peter rabbit. I ended up drilling a couple of small holes into it and running wire through the holes and around the cage frame to hold it into place. Its been great since.

This cage is very large and spacious. I like the way the whole top opens and my rabbit is enjoying the cage. But, I didn't like the wire bottom that came with the cage. the slats are too wide and my rabbit's legs can fall through. If you take the bottom out, this is a great product.

for a local animal shelter, so here's what I know:
They are sturdily constructed, and represent an excellent value. The entire top opens. Top opening is a MUST for safety in rabbit handling and makes cleaning much, much easier on you. At least one of the four wheels will be very tough to install. If you like yourself, go to the hardware store and purchase a 5/16 - 18 tap for $5.00. Squirt some oil on the tap and run it through the holes threaded to accept the wheels - before attempting to install them. If you do that, you won't have any of a number of problems that I won't go into here. Also, the supplied wheels will be fine for home use, but for a shelter application throw them away. They will eventually stick and jam. Purchase a ball bearing wheel set. Order ball bearing wheel WC-415 (currently $2.83 each ) from Reid Supply ([...]). Obvioulsy, you need four for each cage. No, I don't work for Reid Tool. Any machinist knows about them - they have been around for years.

Having a very wide variety of animals and enclosures, was thrilled when first trying this one for a rabbit. The entire top hinges open, making it amazingly easy to clean out a cage completely in under 5 minutes, easily grab the animal, etc. Loved it so much replaced our enclosures for degus and chinchillas too with this one. Thank you to whoever designed this cage (I assume they have actually cleaned a lot of cages and know what is needed! :-)
