My two gerbils love this house--they have 'modified' it by adding a second doorway on the side (chewed in a little arch, just like a mouse hole in a cartoon!). I put their oxbow kibble on the top of the house and it's much easier than using a bowl since they up-end everything *but* their house. I've had it for two months now and it's still holding up.

I bought this item for my 2 rats and right away they curled up inside and took a nap. It's highly durable and great for climbing. My rat Dasiy climbs on top of it and jumps out of the cage.

I bought this hideaway for my Syrian hamster as a replacement for the traditional plastic igloo. I did this because she was getting a little too big to fit in the igloo; especially with all her nesting materials. Also, she was chewing on it which I don't think is as good for their teeth/health as the natural wood that this house is made of. Also, when she chews on this hideaway it does not start to look "cheap" and "dirty" like it's plastic counterpart. It is certainty a longer-lasting alternative to the many plastic hideaways offered for small animals. In addition, it really adds to the overall appearance of her cage/habitat, and it's neutral color matches almost everything! It is the perfect size for smaller-sized small animals (Syrians, dwarfs, mice, etc,) and is roomy enough for their bedding/nesting materials as well. I bought it for about $10.00 at my local pet store, but I am sure that there are cheaper alternatives online if you're willing to look. The only bad things I could even say about this house is that it does take up more space than her plastic igloo did and it is not see-through like the igloo was (can't watch her sleeping.) This is a definitely a quality name brand, and I guarantee your pet will not be disappointed with his/her new house!

Actually using 2 of these for lizards! They're easy to clean, sturdy, neat and look really cute in the tank. Most importantly I can easily take them out of the tank. They're a bit on the light side, a strong lizard or gerbil may slide it around a bit but it won't tip over. Put a little flag on it and your pet can live in an embassy :D
Not really necessary, but I'm going to reinforce the corners on the top with a little caulk to make sure these last a long time. You can also spray paint them, I prefer not to so the lizards can climb the wood and not slip off. Great product, cute little house.
Alternatives are the "Planet Petco Hideaway" and the "Timber Hide-A-Way", but I prefer the design of these.

This medium-sized house was purchased for 2 gerbils to share. It comfortably fits 2 full grown gerbils. Our Petco is now selling their own shoddy version but this product has two holes whereas Petco's only has one. Two holes not only gives them another edge to chew on but makes it easier for them to get in and out. Generally the workmanship on the product is decent.
There's no metal tacks but this is Made in China so pray the glue they use isn't toxic. Type of wood appears to be pine but is not mentioned anywhere. Another downside is the pyramid shape which takes up a lot of what little tank or cage space there is. If you have newborn animals think twice. Toddler gerbils can get trapped between the slanted sides and the side of the tank.
My shipment said 3-5 business days and took 11 days to arrive. Fedex Home Delivery was used and they are the absolute worst. When my order did arrive the sides of the house were not fully flush with each other and one panel looks dark and moldy. I decided to repair it myself and not reach out to the seller since they don't refund shipping per their policy, and our gerbs need it now, not another 11 days from now.
