In theory, this is a great product. The external components seem to be made for long life. Too bad the interior mechanism is not. After scooping only 4 poo's, the inside cable began to come loose from the fitting, and eventually failed altogether rendering the jaws inoperable.
The mechanism is basically a piece of picture hanging wire fed from the handle to the jaws of the scoop and held in place by a small metal compression clip at each end. These clips are cheap and flimsy, and could probably be made more substantial for about a penny.
I ended up having to replace the wire with a more sturdy substitute which required breaking the handle open since the entire product is made with rivets and glue rather than screws. I hope this will solve the problem, and I'll at least get 6 months of use out of it.
Maybe I just got unlucky and got a manufacturer defect, but having now seen the inner workings, I'd be hard pressed to buy another one.

We have 6 greyhounds and have tried many different types of plastic scoopers, most of them have a clam shell type "bucket" on them. These scoopers have small teeth and even after the yard was mowed it was still hard to pick up, most of the time you have to wiggle them alot to get all the poop up and try for the same spot several times causing the handles to break after a few uses( messy to clean).
Since this scooper is made of aluminum and has large aggresive teeth it will pick up even in tall grass,after hard rain when the poop is wet and messy it picks it up even without wiggling it, just place it over top and release the handle no problem. With the large teeth the poop slides off and is easy to clean up.
The handle is a little weak so I put a small hose clamp where it folds to make it sturdier,other wise a great product. At this price you can have a couple of them at different locations in your yard. Now since we bought this metal one our 10 year old will clean the yard with no comlaints unlike the others which she hated

My purchase was last year and I wanted to go through a few seasons before reviewing. I have 2 dogs double the fun ha ha ha... I love the fact that my back no longer hurts after I use it. The teeth are set perfectly and the poop does not fall out. Some previous reviews stated it did work in tall grass. I have found if you leave the teeth close insert into the grass and then open, it grabs and pulls the poop right through the grass and does not rip the grass from the ground.
It's different and takes a little getting used to; I would purchase another in a heartbeat!!!

This scooper is excellent for getting the stuff lodged between grass blades. It does pick up some grass as well but is far superior to the Jumbo Jaws my husband picked up at Petsmart which is big but only effective picking up poop from a flat surface like a sidewalk or street. For the backyard it is worthless - so the Super Scooper claw came to the rescue!!!

This item arrived very quickly and is the perfect length to pick up messes with out having the bend down.
The teeth are pretty sharp so it easily picks up poo from long grass...It is lightweight aluminum so I don't think it will break. I will be leaving it outside, so I hope it doesn't rust. But if it does, I just buy a new one since this is so cheap!
