I purchased this to use on my daughter's 5-gallon acrylic Marineland Hex Betta tank. Due to the tank's design, I expected the cleaning process to be more difficult than your average rectangular tank, but this scraper was pretty much useless. Only the extreme edges of this tool scraped any algae at all, and then in only microscopic quantities. A sheet of Bounty and some good old fashioned elbow grease, followed by five drops of algaecide, were much more effective. I plan sending this back. I think this tool is best used on glass tanks where it appears it works quite well.

I have never used a scraper to remove algae before; I've always relied on those magnetic scrubbers. Well I am sorry I didn't try this sooner. Really easy to use and most importantly- EFFECTIVE.
My only complaint is that I don't think the blade is perfectly straight, so I have to go over areas more than once. It's a minor flaw though.
I have a glass tank so I can't speak for the effectiveness of the acrylic scraper attachment.
