2You get what you pay for.Aug 31, 2011

The product is extremely cheap quality, which, considering the price is sub $30 and the big box pet stores are selling similar products in the $120+ range, this product meets expectations.

I bought this for my shepherd/huskie mix that was digging under our shed in the backyard. My dog had success staying within our property when she had a training collar on a few years ago, so I bought this to deter her from digging. I like the fact this product has a vibrate function in addition to the shock function. I used the '60' vibrate setting on my dog the first night, and the few times I had to buzz her, she did not yelp, but she clearly did not like the buzzing effect and she stopped digging.

I've kept the collar on her the whole time and it seems ok. The issue I have is the transmitter. It's the same grade of plastic that you would expect to get from a dollar store toy gun. The second day I had it, I thought it broke because it would not turn on. After holding down some of the buttons, the transmitter woke up from "sleep" mode and worked. Thankfully, I haven't had to use it much since day 1.

Again, I have no high hopes that this product will last 3 months. It is poorly made with cheap materials and I can only imagine that the electronics inside are made of equally cheap components. It has done its job in the week I've owned it, but for $30, you get what you pay for.

IMO good range: 400+ feet.

The bad: It would be nice if transmitter used standard AA batteries. Also the transmitter goes into sleep mode rather quickly and it requires a delay to turn the unit back on to a point where a correction can be sent. I would prefer a manual/instant sleep mode button. The lowest setting shock is less than you'd get from a regular static discharge touching a metal door(if you know what i mean).
