Best for CichlidsSep 05, 2010
By ChuckFan I've been buying this for years and raised and bred several species of cichlids the oldest ones (Frontosas & Jack Dempseys) are 14 years old and still going. They all have done well with this food. I feed this and Hikari Gold pellets. I've been looking for this for over 2 years checking online about every month. My older 1.78lb box was just about to run out. Glad this is available again. It stores great in the freezer. I place the container in the freezer and keep a suppply in a smaller container. Now that they have moved to plastic, you should let the container warm-up a bit so the plastic doesn't crack when you try an open it directly from the freezer, should you store it.

Happy CichlidsDec 28, 2010

I've been feeding my cichilds (55 gallon tank) this fish food for many years. This is the main portion of their diet and I mix it up with various other cichlid pellets, sticks, wafers, etc. I'm very pleased to find this in such a large size that makes it more affordable. I filled one of my older containers with as much as it could hold and originally put the rest in the freezer as another reviewer suggested, but with the holidays I needed the freezer room so I broke down the contents into various zip-lock bags and put them in the refrigerator. I think keeping it cold is good enough and the freezer isn't really necessary.
Long story short, the fish like it, it's good for them, and this is a great price. If you have a lot of cichlids to feed, I recommend this.

Not too bad... for dustSep 03, 2011
By Aquarius The food was gobbled up by my large cichlids and seemed to keep them healthy. My only complaint is that the flakes broke-up considerably into dust... wasting food and making a mess in my tank. If you have large fish to feed this may not be the best choice. In my 250 gallon tank much of the food ended up in the filter.
