safe for fish and wildlife, removes chlorine in pondsJul 31, 2011
By Chandler My backyard is a certified wildlife habitat with the National Wildlife Federation so I'm very careful about what I use since my ponds, streams, and plants are all planned to benefit the local wildlife with food, shelter and water all being safe. I do like that this doesn't just say it's safe for ponds, but also for wildlife...some things that are safe for ponds and plants, for example, are toxic to birds or frogs. And I get as much excitement from the birds enjoying my stream and the tadpoles swimming in it as I do the stream itself.
I keep two jugs of this on hand at all times and use the big water jugs you get at the grocery store filled with water to fill my pond when there are tadpoles in it because even a tiny bit of chlorine kills the tadpoles. In the winter I simply fill the pond with a garden hose but when there are babies in it of any kind, I do protect them so this is on hand during the summer.
Thus far I've had no negatives or issues.
