Van Nes High Sides Litter BoxJul 20, 2009
By F. Aguirre I researched and bought this litter box because we needed a second litter box for one cat who is a "high" pee-er. Although the tallest three sides are tall enough (about 9 inches) the shorter entrance side is only about 6 inches high and does not prevent wall peeing accidents. Wish they had listed all the dimensions in the description of this litterbox and all the litterboxes for sale.

High walls helpSep 24, 2011

I have two cats. One of them is Tony Tuna-Breath Danseglio (also known as Tony the Paw or Tony NB). Tony likes to stand on all fours about half of the time he's in the litterbox. He also likes to put his back legs against one of the walls. In short, he assumes the posture least likely to hit the litter. This usually results in Tony unintentionally peeing over the side of the box.
If you're reading this review you probably already know that kitty pee is more toxic and harder to remove than plutonium. Most of the chemicals, sprays, and soaps work on dog stains but simply don't work with cat urine. Keeping it within the litterbox is the best way to avoid shampooing carpet, bleaching concrete, refinishing wood, or nuking the site from orbit. I'd rather live in a house reeking of spoiled sushi than uncleaned cat urine.
I put this box down to replace the largest one available from my local store. In short, it works! Tony Tuna-Breath is still comfy with the box and uses it just as often. But now he pees on the inside wall and it gets sucked in by the litter. I use Fresh Step Scoopable Cat Litter, Multiple Cat, 25-Pound Box and the combination keeps the odor down and my floors plague-free. I also change out the cat scoop regularly as these can get nasty. Amazon sells some inexpensive ones so I can just throw the old one in the trash.
Overall this is a great product and at a very inexpensive price. Highly recommended by Tony Tuna-Breath Danseglio!

Keeps the floor cleanAug 23, 2011
By Mike We ordered these pans because our two felids are compulsive diggers and have a tendency to toss the litter all over the basement floor. In two weeks of use these pans seemed to have completely eliminated the problem. Easy to clean, smooth interior surface. Really not much else to add - it's a litter box.
The best part about this purchase actually has been the packaging these pans arrived in. The extra large box stuffed with recycled brown paper (no plastic or packing peanuts) have been providing endless hours of entertainment for the cats since it arrived and we have been simply unable to throw it away.

Solved the problemJan 26, 2012

A stray cat adopted me recently but she really didn't care much for the litter box. I bought just a plain old small one from the groc store. I figured since she was so small, a small pan would work for her. She would do her business in the box then scratch scratch scratch at the walls until I would have to physically stop her. She was also fond of standing outside the box and scooping as much litter out as she could. Every morning I would have to clean up the piles and loose litter scattered all over the floor. I looked at all kinds of articles on why she might do this but they all gave different, or silly, reasons. I had one of these pans for my big cat who didn't want to share with the newbie so I thought it might not hurt to also get one for her. She must like it because I have not had to deal with the scratching or the litter piles since the day I put it out! It seems silly to love a litter pan enough to leave a review but what the heck. If you are considering it, I would highly recommend it.

Nice, but dimensions are inaccurateNov 07, 2011
By E. Woodams I don't know whether this is the mfg's mistake or the seller's, but the dimensions given for this litter pan are inaccurate. The stated width is 14", which I assumed was measured at the widest point. However the one I received is actually over 16" wide, and therefore doesn't fit in the litter box enclosure where I was planning to use it.
Nice box though. It can have "auxiliary cat box" duty in the basement. But I continue to search for the perfect box to fit my enclosures.
