I use this box for all 5 of my CatsMay 29, 2009

This Extra Giant litter box is fantastic. I have used it, along with the Van Ness Liners Van Ness Extra Giant Drawstring Cat Pan Liners 6-pack and Nature's Logic Ponderosa Pine Cat Litter for 5 cats.
I use one litter box and this is the one. The box dimensions are high enough for our largest cat (22 lbs tabby -- just a really big boy and very long) and our littlest girl (8 lbs). I have always removed the plastic swing door as I have found this to be more of an annoyance for the cats and me (the scooper). The enclosed design of this tall box really lends itself to less tracking and more comfort for all different sizes of cats. It isn't so high that a smaller cat (or even a kitten) can't hop into the box.
The Van Ness liners makes for easy litter box changes and I recommend them as an adjunct product. This box is also very durable and will last years with cleaning and care.

Best On The MarketJun 20, 2009

I've used Van Ness Extra Giant litter pans for years (I have four cats) and they are indeed the very best you can buy! I've tried others, but they can't compare. This extra giant keeps the litter from scattering when the cats dig. The best part is you can buy these at Wal-Mart for just under $15.00.

By Mandy H. Forrest This is an awesome litter box. The litter box allows for plenty of room for my big kitty. Does not produce much dust from the litter.

Great boxDec 18, 2009
By R. Tomek I moved from one apartment to another. My old apartment had a nice large bathroom closet and I could just leave the door open a crack so I wouldn't have to worry about the whole room smelling like dirty litter. Our new apartment has a much smaller bathroom, and the only logical locations for a litter box would be in the dining room, hallway right outside the dining room, bedroom, or living room. I certainly do not want to smell dirty litter in any of those rooms. This litter box turned out to be perfect, you can't smell anything when the lid is on.
I think you have to stuff the cats in the litter box when you first get it so that they can learn how the door works, after a couple of days they just ignore the door and just jump right in and out. There's little filters on top so that air can get in and out and dry up the waste in the litter box so that you can have an easy time cleaning it. The lid pops right off for cleaning, but as someone mentioned earlier, the cat pee can get in the seam. There's a lip on the outside so that none of it can get out, but you just have to be careful with where you put the lid when you want to clean the box so that you don't get any on the floor.
Anyway, I'm kind of a clean freak when it comes to my litter box, especially since it's in the dining room. We had some guests spend a couple nights here and on the second day of their visit, they were asking where the litter box was because they didn't see one. You can't smell it, and only a very small amount of litter ends up outside, you can just use a hand vac right outside once every few days (or whenever you clean the box) to clean that up. Needless to say, our house guests were impressed.
Overall, I'm very satisfied. We can leave this in our dining room and have it not affect the way our home smells and the cats love it, and if you put it in the corner of the room people wouldn't even notice that there's a litter box in the room. It's large enough that my older cat can fit in there all the way and turn around to sniff then cover his waste; and also two cats can share it and I only have to clean it once every three days though your mileage may vary.

Surprisingly cheap solution for odor control.Mar 29, 2010

I was literally at my wits end trying to figure out what do do about my litter situation. I'd tried all kinds of different litters before I came to the realization that it might not be the litter so much as the cat box I was using. I love the filters in the top and the locking top! This box keeps litter out of my floor and odors out of my house. I use it in conjunction with Tidy Cats- Multiple Cats litter and I actually invited someone to sniff out the box today, haha. They were absolutely amazed that they couldn't detect even the faintest smell. You can't even smell the scent of the litter! I would highly recommend this box to anyone with a cat!
