4Works great and effective, but certainly not for "advanced" or "serious" joint problemsJun 09, 2011

The product rankings between level 1-3 can be misleading.
Often, one would think level 1 is for very minor problem, and as the number increases, the seriousness of the problem increases.
This level 3 product, will work for most people with dogs that do not have serious cases of joint problems.

If your dog is just having discomfort moving/walking, all levels 1-3 will work for your dog. The amount of glucosamine and chrondrotin across the different levels are not that big either.
What made me pick which level I needed, was based upon what I was feeding my dog as well. Another thing to consider is the size of your dog. A smaller dog requires a smaller dosage compared to a big dog. Also to note that some dog foods already have glucosamine/chrondrotin. Some dog treats as well have glucosamine/chrondrotin too. If your dog is already taking in some glucosamine/chrondrotin from other sources, you might want to get a lower level product in this serious instead, because you do not want to overdose your dog unnecessarily.

For my dog, this product worked great. I started out with level 2, but in the end decided to go with level 3 because I feed it half a tablet a day only since I have a small dog, and his condition is very minor. He used to have wobbly legs at times, and after reading online, and talking to a vet, glucosamine fixes the problem most of the time.
So I gave my dog this supplement, and within 2 days, his problem is no more!
The only issue I had was that this supplement is not very palatable, so I had to break it into smaller pieces and stuff it into my dog's throat like the vet demonstrated.

Back to this product. The product labels it as "advanced." Some might be misled into thinking this is for "advanced" cases of joint problems.
However, it is not.
Contents of active ingredients are just Glucosamine HCL 600 mg, MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) 300 mg, Chondroitin Sulfate (Porcine Source) 400 mg.
That is a really really low dosage if your dog has an advanced case of joint problems, well unless you have a really small dog, like a teacup chihuahua or teacup yorkie, etc.
So sometimes you MIGHT need to give it 2-3 pills a day, depending. Talk to your vet about specifics. Never try to self diagnose your dog because 99% of the time you end up with a larger vet bill instead.
There are other higher dosage supplements out there that you can buy if you need them.
If you are feeding 3 tablets a day for instance, this bottle will only last you a month, so it can be costly.
I also don't like the idea of my dog popping so many "pills" on a daily basis, so I would rather go with something of a higher dosage if my dog really needs it. Just my personal opinion. There is no scientific basis on which is better.

Other brands such as cosequin, are cheaper because they sell in bigger bottles. I checked and it is cheaper by about 10cents/tablet. Depends on where you buy it from.

In general, this is a good product from a good company. The marketing is a little bit confusing (and maybe shady) so do your own research and talk to your vet to see what best fits your dog's needs.
For my dog it worked great, and hopefully this will as well for you.

This made my dog act like a puppy again. This is an excellent product. The nutrition in this product really helped my dog's hip dysplasia. I highly recommend it.

I have a dog with a partial tear in his ACL and have had him on Vets Best for about 2 years now. This is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone who has a dog with joint or ligament problems.

I have a 14 year old pit bull, she was starting to have problems getting up and when she got up you would noticed her bone was weak. I noticed she couldn't hold her balance. Once you use the bottle before it finish you will noticed a big improvement.

4Great Product howeverApr 28, 2012

I've purchased this product at double the price from 'big box' stores after a sales representative at the store strongly recommended it. It has much more in the way of active ingredients than any other joint supplements I've found to date. My lab has had TTA (tibial tuberosity advancement) surgery on one knee and the other cruciate ligament is now gone. He is only 4 years old now (had the surgery at 2 1/2 years - other litter mates also have these issues so his problem is more genetic than activity related). I'm trying some non-invasive measures before I send him back to the operating room and at least 3 months of difficult recuperation. I liked it so I decided to search online for more economical vanues and found Amazon had it at an unbelievable price - and if you order enough, the shipping is free. It's a win-win situation. My only complaint is that several of the tablets were no longer tablets ... I really don't know how many but there was a lot of just powder in the bottom and many halves, quarters and pieces. Perhaps just better packaging would do the trick. All in all, I am pleased with the product, but felt the damage to some of the tablets warranted mentioning.
