Unpractical, unfortunatelyJun 10, 2010
By Olivia I loved the idea of this cage, but unfortunately could only deal with the practical aspect of it for a week, before I switched back to my old mouse cage. I really should have known better, but it was so cute I wanted to try it!
I have two mice and they did seem to like crawling through the different cubes, and the cubes/wheel are completely rearrangeable, which is neat. No problems getting up and down the stairs, they built a little nest right in the top middle cube and it was cute, for about a day.
I've owned mice for several years, and have never had such a bad odor problem. As fast as the day after I put the mice in the cage, it started to stink. Most of the cubes have holes in the sides and bottom to allow the mice to crawl through, but it also makes it impossible to keep any bedding on those levels. So most of the mouse pee and poop falls onto bare plastic and stinks to high heaven. Same problem with the wheel, which has to be used because the cubes are too small for a standard wheel. When I cleaned it I found poop just caked up inside it. It has a curved plastic bottom which makes everything run down to the middle and stay there.
One of the reasons I got this cage was because I liked the idea of mounting it on a wall (which is 100% necessary, by the way, unless you want it to fall over). The cage also spills bedding out of the wired sides, making a mess on the floor.
To clean it (which is when I decided to switch back, because I did NOT want to do that again), I had to pull out most of the bedding by hand (try dumping that huge tray out over the garbage), and then throw all the cubes and blue tray into the bathtub to soak before I could scrub the stuff off.
Granted, all of this should be obvious from the picture, it was just things I didn't think of when I bought this product. I can't imagine even the most dedicated pet owner using this cage regularly, it would take pretty much daily cleaning not to stink.
*The only actual defect on this product was the water bottle. It didn't have a ball gasket like most bottles I've seen, and the water just drips out. I was able to use the bracket which came with that bottle on my own standard bottle to solve this problem

Mouse review.Jan 22, 2011
By MissPippy I have bought this cage about four months ago and for mice it works great. I toke out the wheel, feeding dish, and water bottle. The reason was it was to small even for mice. So I just attached it to another cage and it has a wheel, feeding dish, and the water bottle in it. I got the cardboard cube to put in it and they chew on it well. If you have potty place for them this cage stays clean for the most part.

Cute, but gerbils chewedJan 20, 2011

My daughter got this from "santa" for Christmas. I looks really cute, the wheel works well, so does the water bottle. Otherwise not worth it. In 3 days there were noticeable chew marks on the food bowl, the plastic screw that holds the wheel, and a few of the partitions. Last night we bought a new cage. After 3 weeks, the wheel wouldn't stay up anymore because the pin was ruined. I had to take the food bowl out because it was half gone. The stairs were chewed to the point that they fell apart. Cute idea, would have been awesome it the pieces were metal. We bought a metal birdcage style cage, gerbils seem much happier.

I Love This CageJul 21, 2010
By Christine S. Dennison I have had this cage for about 6 months now and I currently use it for 3 male mice. I also used it for my robo dwarf hamsters and it worked great for them too. I did not hang this on the wall and it stands up on its own just fine. The easiest way to set this up and to save on costly bedding is to use 1/2 size sheets of paper towel to line the bottom of each cube (not the ones with the steps of course) Then I keep a small igloo house on the bottom shelf and a house that is actually used for a potty on the top middle shelf. I put toilette paper in as bedding which is again cheaper and not as messy. I also put the food bowl on the top right shelf. The water bottle and the feeder that came with it are worthless so a separate small water bottle will fit just fine on the outside of the cage. I have mine on the second level all the way to the left. The wheel does get dirty but so do all of them no matter what cage you have. I usually soak all the messy stuff in really hot water and it comes right off. The Wheel on this cage goes on and off really easy. I hope this helps :-)

Not such a good home...Jun 02, 2011
By Maria0507 The design of this hamster cage looks wonderful, and being able to hang it on the wall (so our 6 year old could reach it and our 3 year old could not) was wonderful. But it ended up not being a good cage at all. Our hamsters had a hard time going up and down the stairs. The water bottle leaked all over the place. The food dish was constantly falling and spilling all over. It's impossible to keep bedding in the squares. Even though we cleaned the cage every other day, it was still a mess (food, urine, etc). It also makes a terrible mess outside of the cage. And most importantly, it was very hard to keep our hamsters healthy. I wouldn't recommend the product to anyone, it seems as though no matter what...this cage is just not a good environment for a pet.
