This is great for keeping your UVB bulb hidden from view since its really deep. The lamp is thin which is handy when you need to have more than one side by side and the switch is nice as well. The only draw back I have found is the lack of a clamp attachment, although when using it with a uvb its fine since you don't want the lamp angled where you could damage your eyes looking into it.

Zoo Med makes great products. I love this dome because it really is everything it's supposed to be/do. I highly recommended this dome lamp.

I was using this fixture with a 150 watt ceramic heater over my python's cage. Worked great in that it was able to sit on the wire screen cover directly. The two negatives I can report are:
1) The strain relief were the cord goes into the socket is inadequate. Just the weight of the cord hanging over the edge of the tank is enough to pull it loos from the socket.
2) After a little over two years the on/off switch no longer closes and turns off the fixture. You can wiggle the switch and it will turn back on, but after a few minutes it goes out again.
So overall, for the price id expect it to last much more than two years.

I bought this lamp fixture with the Zoo Med Lamp for my turtles and this really works perfectly. It came on time and it makes allot of heat which is very good for my turtles basking site. I really recommend this product! :)

just got it in the mail today. right as i took it out of the box could tell the dome was loose so hand tighten. tried to put the light in(125w mercury vapor)but wouldn't go. after messing with the inside socket got it to go in. but it sat crocked so had to fix the dome again. well i have had my flunkers two for over two years no problems. anyway fixed all the problems it works fine for now but seems cheap to me. new i just think u shouldn't have to f*** with things for 45 mins to get them to work right. im keeping it hope it lasts.
